Negril

WE are visiting Negril for the first time staying at the Rockhouse Hotel. Would love to get any tips/suggestions on exploring Negril, 7 mile beach, etc.
Thanks,
Phendy

Oh Lord, there is so much to do. First, from all I have heard, you'll love Rockhouse and the westend. Got to eat 3Dives and do sunset there one night, although you have quite a spot for your own viewing....

Got to walk the beach....catch a taxi to Kuyaba have lunch or dinner and see the beach sights.

There are other places (of course) and other folks will do a better job than I.

Solomon is the best of the best for visitors to Negril. He is picking us up from Sangster on our upcoming trip and we can't wait. We are planning on having him take us to Benji's Roaring River and Treasure Bay during our stay. Check out his site for a list of what they offer.

Also, you can hop on over to http://www.jamaicans.com and checkout the Discover Jamaica forum, the trip report forum and Jamaicaholics forum....loads of info and a great place to ask questions!

Hi Phendy,

Rockhouse has a lot of spectacular views. It's in walking distance of a variety of great restaraunts. Be sure to try Jus Natural for one of the best breakfasts you'll ever have (located across the street from La Kaiser Hotel). Next door to Rockhouse is Pirates Cove. Nice little bar to grab a Red Stripe. Right up from there is 3-Dives, some of the best jerk chicken.
Going towards the west try Rick's Cafe. It's touristy and expensive, but it's interesting to check out. Next door to Rick's is LTU Pub. Very good food and beautiful views, especially at sunset.

If you snorkel, you can set out right from your hotel, some great reefs in the area. We bring our own gear which we got at a sport's store for about $40. Work's well if you plan to go out alot. I think there are some places that will rent the gear also.

Getting around is very easy. Taxi's are plentiful. Be sure to negotiate a price before gettting in one. We usually rent a scooter to get around. There are plenty of place to rent them. You can usually negotiate a price between $20-$25 a day.

The best way to explore 7 mile beach is to just walk! It's amazing what you'll see and who'll you meet. Lot's of great restaurants and stands. Don't be afraid to explore the hotel and resort properties, you are welcome.

Darn, time to get back to work.
Just remember to keep an open mind and have fun!
We're leaving on our sixth trip to Negril in two weeks!
