Native,
I visited Tortola this past summer and had a great time. For the life of me, I cannot remember the name of the bakery in Roadtown near the dock where you catch the ferry to Virgin Gorda. Do you know it, it is a couple of blocks from the dock and the food is prepared by students attending a local bakery school? The pastries were absolutely delicious.
thanks

Allen, it is simply called the Road Town Bakery and you are right - excellent pastries, bread and light lunch sandwiches etc. Its run by the students of the New England Culinary School. They also do a wonderful brunch at the Prospect Reef Resort on a Sunday and, I understand, will take over the entire food and beverage service at that hotel for the upcoming season. So glad you enjoyed your trip to Tortola. Do come again!

We love Europe but when we do travel to relax we really like Hawaii and some of the islands in the Caribbean. Our best trip was to St. Barts--very upscale island--Eden Rock Hotel etc.
In Hawaii the Big Island of Hawaii has luxurious hotels in the Kohala area and combine this trip with some time in Maui. The Big Island is more authentic Hawaii and the scenery is breathtaking. The flights are short between islands.
Oahu while nice is crowded and does not compare to the other islands. For a short stay in Waikiki the Hilton Hawaiian Village has a very long beach.
