Hi Nancy- We have never had a problem with a camera and stuff at CJ. I lock cash, passports etc in the room safe. At night you can secure the door and shutters while you are asleep.
CuisinArt has a room key and a safe in the room.
CJs bathrooms are really closed-one wall is all glass that has a locked door to an outside sunning area. The bathrooms are stunning! Never had a bug problem!
Cap Juluca is a unique hotel and its a magical place.

Having stayed at CuisinArt and planning on December at Cap (having been blown out of there by Lenny last time), I found CuisinArt nice but my time visiting Cap as a "days tripper," left me feeling that CuisinArt, altho a beautiful spot with great spa services, falls a bit short of the ambience and atmosphere of Cap. They are trying to compete, but in my short visit, I found CuisinArt didn't quite measure up to it! But, it still is a lovely place! I prefer waterside dining which CuisinArt doesn't have, I prefer open and fresh air accomodations and found that CuisinArt did not take advantage of the winds that vigorously blew and the rooms, especially the bath, got stuffy and hot without a/c, the rooms were sparcely furnished with no comfortable sitting/reading area but only a desk chair. The restaurant disappointed (the Cafes were good for lunch tho). We could not swim some days there because of the choppy water and the wind but Cap's beach was more protected and we had no problem there or at some of the other beaches on those same days! Of course, I can only hope that Cap will live up to all my expectations and am positive that it will given my very limited experience there!

People kept mentioning bugs. what are these bugs? are they small bugs that you can step on or are the huge and slimy and make your hairs stand up?
Someone must once have seen a bug or two at Cap Juluca but in my eight-day stay last month there wasn't a problem.

The bathrooms are NOT outside; they are inside and airconditioned. There is a glass door from the bathroom that opens out into a private sun deck.

Thanks Penny and Kat for the info. We are 99% sure that it's going to be Cap Jaluca. My husband is still worrying over no locks on the doors, but once he reads all the posting I'm sure he will change his mind. Thanks again for the info.

Nancy, There are locks on the doors and you can request a key but most people don't.
