Looking for a Great AI Resort and interesting island

Last September my wife and I visited Curacao and stayed at Sunscape. To us, it was the best AI we have visited, food was good, staff very friendly, nice entertainment and variety of things to do. Loved the island also, there is a lot to see in Curacao.
Now we are starting to look around for our next adventure, probably June 2018. We could return to Curacaco but I feel like "been there, done that." Still want an interesting island to tour, an AI resort where we can sit by the pool and enjoy a drink or two and not be afraid to leave the resort when we wish. Any suggestions?

All islands offer something interesting depending on what's I retesting to you

Please tell us more to help you, your question is way too vague

Budget

Time of year

Activities you like

What you look for on vacation

Keep in mind majority aren't known for AI, and the few not known that have them are more like meal plans or not the vibe of the destination

AI destinations are Mexico and DR followed by Jamaica

We love to sightsee, both on planned excursions and on our own. One can only do that so much in a hot sun, so rest of time sit by the pool enjoy a refreshing drink. Want to be able to enjoy our resort, but not confined to it, which means being able to walk around the area and feel safe. Planning on June or July next year. We like AI cause it gives us a lot of choices, can venture out for a different meal or two but we know we don't have to go anywhere if we don't want to.
How's that?

I'd check out the Riviera Maya of Mexico. Tons of AI resorts to pick from. Tons of excursions to choose from, along with the area being very safe to get out on your own if you want.

It MUCH more laid back and less touristy than Cancun. You can stay near the town of Playa Del Carmen which will be a lot more built up, or head south and stay in places like Akumal or Tulum which are very quiet but plenty to do. Can't help with the Pacific coast.
