Little Dix Bay

Hello - My finace and I are planning our honeymoon and we are looking into Little Dix Bay. I am looking at the map of the resort and it looks like everything is close together. Does anyone know if it feels crowded or is there is a level of privacy around the resort and beaches? Also the Ocean View Rooms appear to be very close to the beach, can anyone tell me what those rooms are like? Thanks for your advice!

LDB is the first Caribbean reort I stayed at more than 20 years ago and to this day remains one of my favorites. I've been there numerous times since and would return in a New York minute. I never once felt there was a lack of privacy. I'm not sure which map you are looking at but it in no way "feels crowded", in fact the opposite seems true. The rooms are quite nice, tastefully appointed and spacious. Check out the LDB website - www.littledixbay.com for details, photos of the rooms, a 360 degree view of the property and a video. It will answere a lot of your questions.

We were there in May for our 20th anniversary- I would suggest a room at the opposite end of the spa- very quiet- only downside further walk to places..My only 2 disappointments were the construction going on the hill- they are building villas- beautiful place but not as peaceful with construction equipment!! Also the pool is for spa users only! Let me know if I can be of further help! Susan

My daughter stayed one week there on her honeymoon and a second week at the Ritz in St. Thomas. She was disappointed in LDB as far as the level of service was concerned....not at all what she expected after reading so many wonderful reviews. She said the Ritz in St. Thomas was far superior to LDB.

My husband and I were at LDB about 4-5 years ago. It was absolutely lovely. In fact, we are planning on going back next June for our anniversary trip. We stayned in one of the Ocean View Rooms (2nd floor) on the end in the group of buildings numbered 101-108. The grounds are so lush that it is very private. It was not crowded at all. The only time we really saw a lot of people was at meal time. Any other time, you would never know that the resort was fully booked. We never saw many people during the day at all. It is very secluded. I have read that there is construction going on, so I would make a call to the hotel and request a room opposite where they are building the villas (I'm not sure which end that would be but my guess would be the opposite end from the Spa, probably past the tennis courts and past rooms 77-80). Don't miss snorkling at The Baths as many times as possible either!!

Many now would opt for Peter Island in the BVI:
I was very glad we did diving and snorkling from the Clipper Cruise Line's Yorktown Clipper in Jan '04 - I really don't think I would pay a premium to stay anywhere in the US or BVI!
Just mho!
