Ritz or other Resort

Thanks for all your hep on wedding/honeymoon. We have decided to stay at ST. Thomas with day trips to the other islands. Where is a good place to stay at St. Thomas - we are leaning towards the Ritz? any other ideas. THANKS

Ritz is fine and is on the end of the island where it is most convenient to take a ferry or charter to St. John or the BVI's. My husband and I were just on St. Thomas recently and stayed at the Marriott Frenchman's Reef and have no complaints and lots of praise. Some friends stayed at Bolongo Bay and were very disappointed, as was the case with some other friends who stayed at Blazing Villas (part of Renaissance). I would encourage you to check out usvi-on-line.com and go to their forum for information from real people who have either traveled there or actually live there. It helped us tremendously. Best of luck!

we just returned last night from staying at the ritz for the past week. I will say that the property is magnificent. It really is a special place. The infinity edge pool over looking the water and facing st john is incredible. the service is not up to ritz/four season quality as in the u.s. but you can't expect that in the the caribbean. Nonetheless, the staff were very nice and will always try to accomodate you. The rooms are very nice. I would recommend not getting a first floor room, as the views from the second or third floors are fantastic. We have also been to the Marriot at fenchmen's reef. It is also a very nice property but not at the level of the ritz in service or amenities. Basically, when it comes to deciding whether to stay at the ritz, it comes down to whether you want to spend the extra money and whether you appreciate the extras that a high end resort offers. My wife an i like the aestetics of a nice resort and things like the twice a day maid service. If you don't value such things, then i would not spend the extra money. PLease let me know if I can give you any more information.

Just saw Frenchmen's Reef on the Travel Channel - they said it had just been completely redone. They also said that lots of famous people stay there. Just my two cents!
