KarenW531--Question for you.
Hi Karen. I do a lot of trip planning here and have read your input many times. Though we have very different opinions on some things (I love Grand Cayman and Aruba) you seem to have the most unbiased input. So, my question is have you been to St. Martin/St. Maarten?? It may be my next stop if I can find enough positives. Also, what destinations do you recommend based on your travel? (I've been to GC 2x, Aruba, Jamacia, Mexico...would not return to Mex or Jam again.) Thanks!!!!

Sorry but someone just told me to look for your post. My only scheduled trip to SXM was cancelled since Lenny did the island in and we haven't gone yet! Only info I have is second hand from my son. In Mexico, we stayed at a small botique hotel north of Playa del Carmen and loved the area but didn't think much of the hotel! I loved the touring and the history.
I do enjoy the BVI's and just this February found the Grenadines which are still pretty prestine and "unfound." Hard to get to and expensive so maybe they won't grow like some of the other islands! I loved Anguilla last year ... wonderful beaches!

Hi Tera-Lots of people enjoy St. Martin/Maaten. It has gotten very developed with a lot of time shares so there are lots of visitors and cruise ships. In the latest issue( September) of Caribbean Travel and Life it has aa interesting article on this island. We stayed there for 5 nights about 4 years ago-we wanted to give it a try as we travel to SXM and take a ferry from Marigot to Anguilla. We did enjoy our stay and thought the restaurants were fantastic. The beaches were a little too busy for me as I prefer almoat empty beaches and do not care about night life or casinos. www.traveltalkonline.com/ has a very active St. Martin forum. It depends what you are looking for and this might be what you want!
