Jumby Bay Package Deals
I am looking to honeymoon at the fabulous resort, but am a litte discouraged at the price. Does the resort/travel agencies offer any special resort packages? Are there any deals to be found? Also, what time of year are the best rates available? I will be going in June 2005.

There's two things you may want to consider. First, check out the auctions at luxurylink.com. They often have good deals, but I don't believe they can guarantee a particular room type. Second, consider becoming a member of Andrew Harper's Q Club. Go to andrewharper.com. Be becoming a member, you can receive a pretty good discount on Jumby Bay during June-August. Travel agents sometimes offer a slight discount over the posted rates as well.

Harpers is a good idea if you travel often...the membership is about $300 to join and you will maybe save that much so it is a wash - I am not sure if there is also a yearly membership fee.
Travel agents cannot discount high end resorts, but they can give you perks, like a free upgrade (if available), champagne & flowers and vouchers for breakfast, or a sunset sail - That kind of thing. The best thing to do is to call the resort yourself, find out what package deals are going on. Price out the room that you prefer, then call a travel agent - a Virtouso travel agent is the type of agency that can get you the added ammenities. When you call the resort first you will educate yourself on the types of rooms and the rates/packages. This way when you call the agent, you will know if you got a good deal or not. June is low season, but it is also honeymoon season. I would recommend you book the room you want, not take a lower room and hope for an upgrade. June is a nice time to go (it's after the little rainy season which is april - may and before the big threat of hurricanes which ususlly start to blow in late july. Although it is officially hurricane season, you should be fine in june) and the rates are reasonable (May-Nov are usually the lowest rates of the year). Mid Aug thur Sept and Oct I think the rates may even lower (most resorts close for the full month of Sept and part of Oct), during that time, but is is not a desirable time to go, IMHO.
The rates/specials have not been published for 2005 yet, so you have time to plan.

Great idea. My agent is a vituoso agent and I found a big difference between other chain agencies and virtuoso (specifically regarding customer service). Check out Sterling Travel or go to virtuoso.com to select an agent in an area near you. They have a few agents that are specialists in the caribbean. They really know their properties and seem to have the inside track on what;s going on. One of the perks we received was a $100 credit that could be used anywhere at the resort. If you book with an agent as opposed to booking hotel and air separately, you'll receive a lower overall package rate.

Bosco's suggestion about luxurylink.com is a good one.
I purchased our latest trip to Jumby Bay on LL. It was <specifically> for a Courtyard Suite room, and we ended up paying a LOT less than the listed rate. It was a great deal.
I've used LL for several very nice luxury trips and it's been everything advertised each time.
