July to STX

I am traveling to St. Croix at the end of June through the beginning of July and was concerned with hurricanes as well. From what I have been told, the threat is quite low that early in the season. I am staying at the Carambola (getting married there). We looked into the Buccaneer and heard nothing but good things about it except that it is quite a bit more expensive than most other hotels/resorts on the island. Plus, if you play golf, the course at the Carambola is supposed to be superior to the one at the Bucc. Hope you have a great trip.

Stay at the Carambola or a smaller place called the Hibiscus. The Hibiscus is my personal favorite, right on the beach, but with good rooms and nice staff. Entertainment nightly in the restaurant. It's not a full resort as the buccaneer or carambola is, but it's a friendly, more intimate place.

Club St. Croix has some problems with raw sewage in the water, because they are situated near a sewage plant. Occassionally these problems can occur. Hope this helps
Hurricane season runs June 1 to November 30, but it's peak is mid-August to early October, so your threat is minimal. Club St. Croix is nice, but there have been sewage discharge problems recently which have rendered the water unusable from time to time.

In addition to the Hibiscus Beach Club, Chenay Bay is nice. I stay right in town at the Caravelle - gives me access to all the shops and restaurants, tours, etc. and is literally only a five minute walk and two minute ferry ride to the beach at Protestant Cay. You'd only need to rent a car for a couple of days to explore and the hotel has parking. It's on the waterfront but has no beach.

E-mail me if you would like more ideas or info.

I second the recommendation that you consider Chenay Bay. Reasonably priced and child-friendly resort, the cottage- style rooms with equipped kitchenettes would be very comfortable and convenient for the 3 of you. Good luck with the weather whatever choice you make for accommodations!
