Jolly Beach Vacations in Antigua?

CALENITA,From what i discovered about JBV, there is a grocery store within walking distance. As far as affordability, I would say it's relative. Restaurants are are nearby.You are able to go all-inclusive w/ Jolly Beach Resort,which is on the same property. ....When do you plan on being there? My wife and I will be there Feb 25 to Mar 4.

I've never stayed there, but I've visited. The Jolly Beach complex, including the hotel and the villas, is the largest on Antigua and one of the largest in the Caribbean. It has all kinds of ameneties on site: groceries, restaurants, strip mall, helipad, tiny casino, golf course. The beach there is beautiful to look at and great for swimming, but poor visibility for snorkeling.
A cab ride into St. John's or the DIckinson Bay area (where many activities on island are located) will be $20-30 round trip. You can dine cheaply or extravagently on Antigua, but you must factor in either the cost of a rental car or multiple taxi rides for your meals if you want to leave the JB complex.
Lots of people love it. I prefer places with 30 rooms or less with more local color, so it's not my cup of tea.
Expect to pay about 25% more for groceries on the island than in the States. Don't know about prices compared to the UK. Remember that the island must import nearly all of its goods, so the added cost of duty is passed on to the consumer.

We will be there Feb 18-25. Just miss you and no chance to post on our experience. How does the all-inclusive work? Do you do it on a daily basis or weekly? We have done all inclusive in Jamaica and enjoyed that. We aren't big drinkers though so this is a factor against all inclusive. We do timeshares in the US and like that, but have never done one outside the US before, so that is why I was wondering about the groceries. I don't think we will rent a car.

I was told it costs $51 per day per person. I believe you can purchase daily or weekly. We enjoy timeshares, just for the convenience. We make breakfast and usually have a sandwich and snacks in the T/S or take it to the beach. At night, we go out to eat. My wife isn't big on all-inclusives. You can e-mail JBV [email protected]
