Isla Mujeres

Any thoughts on somewhere private and beachfront for a couple to stay? How has this area been effected by the hurricane?
Thanks

The island was hurt by the hurricane but seems to be having a remarkable recovery. Go to some of the isla web sites for more information. Would suggest islamujeres.info.

www.isla-mujeres.net lists most accommodation on the Island. Also post your question on the Fodor's Latin America Forum. There are lots of options for accommodation on Isla. Are you looking for a hotel, villa, room? Budget?

If we ever get to Isla Mujeres, we'd stay at Hotel Villa Rolandi. Their website is rolandi.com. It really looks like a lovely place for a couple. Not sure about their beach.

We were planning on a few days in Isla Mujeres this winter before the hurricane damage but have now decided to wait until next year. I have always wanted to stay at Hotel Secreto....it gets great reviews. Very small and intimate w/ cool rooms.

I believe, at present, it is closed for refurbishing - this was before Ivan. Not sure if they have re-opened yet.
