Very negative board. Lots of angry people out there. No wonder people don't use their names. Quite a bashing board.

DEAR XXX:
Just like everything in life there is good and bad. This is a Travel Talk Posting where people can discuss their experiences. When someone posts a message for advice for places to avoid because he does not want to waste his 4500.00 prize, is great. The same places to avoid always come up, not just on this post but others as well. They are real experiences form real people, who spent their hard earned money for a slice of peace and relaxation only to be disappointed and felt like their money would have been wisely spent some where else. Isn't this what it's for? Advice! If certain destinations are "bashed" over and over again, why would you think the people that travel un-knowingly to these pits are at fault? Haven't you been to a place and felt ripped off and discusted, to find you are not alone, other people have had the same or worse experience? That is what this is for. I have also read many glorious reports over and over about other places. If you can read and understand there is always a list of places to GO and Places to AVOID. to make it simple for you xxx its not about bashing it is about the level of expectation to all of us the travel consumer, who travel on a budget, work hard for our vacation and expect not to get ripped off when we have a certain amount to spend regardless of the amount of money. So if I read negative post after post about Aruba or Atlantis or St. Martin I would take these destinations into consideration and look into places that have positive posts like Cap Juluca, Bermuda, Virgin Gorda. Maybe the fault is not with the people who write the posts but with the management of the Resorts these unknowing people travel to. GET IT??

YES I got it you make the point I was trying to. we agree. hope that you would NOT take those places that were bashed into consideration. you mention aruba stmarten and atlantis. but there are those who love them and how does someone else know that the repeated postings are not by the same person or that the questions are not set ups for the flaming nasty threads that are intended to be nothing good and intimidate others or just be nasty and argumentative like yours. we agree and ther's no reson to be so damn nasty. Beginning to think that this board does more to harm to travel than help and the unknowing traveler has to do more work to confirm what is here and what is not because people don't know what the hell they are talking about.

I'm glad that I found this board and if you read thru, you'll notice that each message has a kernel of truth in it. Aruba, for eg., is not liked by many because it's desert-like and americanized. People who can get past this enjoy the island and its beaches, restaurant and that it's relatively safe. I've also noticed that those who've been to Jamaica complain of its poverty and the quality of its all-inclusives. With St. Martin, I'm confused coz' some people will say it has a lot of trash, prevalence of crime and some are offended by the nudity at the beach while others will disagree. I take what everyone will say here in consideration because most travel guide books will sugarcoat everything to boost tourism to that place. It's just up to me to sort out which of these messages are garbage and which are not. So X, just use your common sense and you'll find a lot of useful information here.

Dear X,
Now I will be nasty, you are an inane droan that makes no sense. It appears the only travel you do is thru your computer. Instead of taking up useless space on this website may I suggest you go to backtoschool.com and get your high school diploma. Just because you cannot comprehend what someone is saying or beyond your realm of thinking does not equate nasty. I have an idea, why don't you take some money out of your bank account and go to Sandals for a week and have a good time - those places are made for idiots like you. ENJOY!

SandyFeet: Puerto Rico is like Brooklyn with Palm Trees! That's riduculous--how much if any of Puerto Rico have you seen--Flamenco Beach alone was rated one of the most beautiful beaches in the world by Discovery.Com-The Travel Channel. Have you seen Luquillo Beach or any beaches outside San Juan!

This thread is just hilarious !!
If poor Mally (the one who started this thread) had to pick a spot to avoid, her brains would melt...and probably end up taking a trip to Antarctica!!

Antarctica sucks.
I wouldn't go there again even if I were an Amundsen.
There are no good restaurants, it's overcast a lot, and there's trash lying around everywhere.
No crime but a very hostile environment nonetheless.
Avoid at all costs.
I disagree Bob. We had a great time at Antarctica. It was very laid back, the place you would want to go if you want to get away from it all. I highly recommend it to honeymooners.

The only place we have really disliked is St. Lucia. Met some other very nice guests, but not a good place, not at all like what we had heard it was. Also, if you ever lose your luggage, this is the last place in the world you want to be at.

Bermuda- way too expensive, and you have to take a bus to get any place. The streets are too narrow to walk on. The food is aweful.

thank you again for making my point about ignorant nasty posts. I speak only five languages and English is not a primary one but I do not have a ged from one of the dummy-down American education system. Antartica is the only continent that I havenot visited or lived but gointthere next summer there. Can you speak the same? How many island have you been to? One? Two? I don't have tatoos and don't carry my cooler when I am off to an island because I am too cheap to buy things there but do if no stores there. I don't buy a piece of time and call me a home owner and flock to cheap places so I can bragthat I go to islands anddrink beer all day. Your poor ego and no class should not be built up by intimidating and trashing others people. You should learn some mannersand respect for other people and thier like and dislike.
Good day.

I would never return to Nassau. Not very nice at all. Atlantis is very over-priced. Like Las Vegas in the Caribbean. Beaches only so-so. Alot of vendors bothering you on the beach. Would not go back to Cancun either. They try to rip off the tourists. It is a game to them.

Dear X,
Pardon me, world traveller, but if you read the original post "If you could pick one place to avoid..." I would think it's a tip off that there may be some dislikes discussed. I also think your personal appearance or your beverage preferance or how you carry a cooler really do not have any room for discussion. As for my Travel experience I have been thru Europe, Carribean United States and central America. I can honestly say that I'm not saving my pennies to visit Antartica

So to you dear X:
Ton cerveux est plus petit d'une cacahuette.
Have a Nice Day

Jamaica is the worst place in the world that I have been to!!! The cage you in the resort. It is not safe to leave. Someone tried to break in my in laws room at night. The food is worst than college food. They served us curry goat, and jerk pork that was just fat! My daughter got very sick because she swam in the beach water. Later we saw that they discharge sewage very close by the beach were there guest swim. We paid $5,000 for this all inclusive trip, and it was a nightmare! My daughter getting very sick was horrible!!

Hey XXXXX, for someone who accuses Americans of being dummied down by our education system, you are one horrifically bad speller/grammarian.
Even if English is your third language, your sentences don't even make sense in some instances.
Being multilingual does not confer intelligence, or class, or insight.
Travelling cheaply and being an environmentalist does not mean one has class, or intelligence, or insight.
Thought oppression is not encouraged in our country.
I respect your right to express your opinion.
But, as you have stated them, I don't have much repect for your views.
