I need suggestions about CANCUN!

I and my boyfriend would like to go to Cancun in September. Any suggestions about hotels and tours? What about the typical weather in that month? Is Cancun in any hurricane path? Thank you for the responses.

Technically, Cancun is in the hurricane belt, but if you want to go in Sept, go ahead and do it. If you are really worried, buy some good travel cancellation insurance so that you can be reimbursed if your travel plans get waylaid. One of my favorite resorts in Cancun is the Blue Bay Village. It is adults-only, all-inclusive right on the Caribbean, at the northern part of Cancun. You can see Isla Mujeres on the horizon. Rates are reasonable, food is good, drinks and meals are included, and the pools are lovely. The rooms are nice and they do onsite entertainment every night. They also run a shuttle to a different bar every night, if you like LATE NIGHT entertainment [the shuttle doesn't leave until 11 PM]. I just went there in April, had a great time

Lucky you. Cancun is a really great place. There are alot of wonderful hotels on the strip, but do not stay close to downtown. I have stayed at the Westin and Continental Villas. The next time I go I would like to to try the Melia or the Omni. DO NOT stay at an all-inclusive. There are too many wonderful restaurants in and around the hotel area to be restricted to one property. You are going in a rather unstable time of the year for weather. I was there in October and it rained every day for 20 minutes so it did not spoil the trip by any means. Everyone who has been there will suggest Captains Cove for breakfast. It is on the lagoon side and the selection is outstanding for the buffet. Planet Hollywood is an interesting place, good food at reasonable prices. Tulum is a wonderful site, and for a full day trip to see the ruins Chichen Itza is just wonderful. For that trip buy a large bottle of water as it gets to be 100 degrees by 10 am. In the hotel area the water is safe to drink and all food with the exception from street vendors is safe to eat. On side trips the guide will tell you where it is safe to eat and drink. Enjoy.

Cancun is fabulous and inexpensive. I've been there 3 times!!! Have stayed at the Omni, Fiesta Americana Condesa, and the Melia Turquesa. All were beautiful accommodations. Be sure to check out the food downtown. It is safe, lower in cost than restaurants in the hotel zone (Planet Hollywood, Daddyos, TGIF, Outback), and delicious. However, order bottled water when downtown. If buying souvenirs or taking cab rides...negotiate, negotiate, negotiate the fee. You can always get them to take less. Be sure to check out Isla Mujeres...there is a 40-minute ferry ride that runs there for around $20 US. Also, exchange your US dollars for pesos downtown not in the hotel. You ALWAYS get more for your money there. And, if you know any Spanish, use it. It helps you from getting ripped off if the locals think you can speak their language, even if only a little bit. Have fun!!!

Go to Xcaret.(ish-ka-ret) It's close to Tulum (Mayan ruins) and Xel-Ha. Xcaret is a zoological park with an underground river you can raft on, dolphins, a Mayan re-enactment, and a performance of music and dancing at the mouth of cave to the underground river that you can't miss. Xcaret has an office in Cancun that can arrange the tour, etc. Xel-Ha (shell-ha)is a lagoon where the ocean and a river meet. Great snorkeling or you can rent an tube and float down the river. Isla Mujeres is a great trip too. (inexpensive) Has some very beautiful and secluded beaches on the northeast side. e-mail me for more.
