Here is a paragraph about hurricanes on the following website: <BR>http://www.wheretostay.com/caribbean...ane_facts.html <BR> <BR>"Hurricanes in the Caribbean and North Atlantic are most common from August-October with September being the most active. There's an average of 9 tropical storms & 5 hurricanes per year named in the Atlantic basin with as many as 19-21 storms seen in some seasons." <BR> <BR>But there have been hurricanes in nov. they do occur that late, just not as likely. <BR> <BR>

not sure where you read the "loads" of rain but the closer to the end of hurricane season, the likihood of bad weather decreases. Unless some unpredictable tropical wave, depression or hurricane passes thru (and generally they last only a short period - a day or two at most), you may have some rainy showers (liquid sunshine) but generally the weather is great all year round. Some find it advisable to get trip interruption insurance if traveling during the Hurrican Season.

Wouldn't consider November "loads of rain" in the virgin islands. Historical weather indicates 4-5 inches of rain a month, which is no bad. It rains more in the fall than in the winter, but unless a strom comes along, most days should be pretty clear, maybe a short shower in the afternoon. For historical weather see: <BR>http://www.worldclimate.com/cgi-bin/...4+2200+671615C <BR> <BR>Good luck!

One of the worse hurricanes to hit the Caribbean was in Nov. of 1999. The hurricane was hurricane Lenny. It was rare for two reasons. One reason was that it hit so late and the other was the intensity that it hit with. It was categorized as a t4 which is consists of winds of 130 mph.

But, Jesse fails to neglect to comment that Lenny did a glancing blow to the Virgins and because of his length of stay over other islands (St. Martin and surrounds), he did manage to do signifigant damage there! Just 2 weeks after Lenny passed by, we were soaking up the Virgin sunshine while a February trip had to be rescheduled because of the chosen location on Anguilla! Hurricanes are just very unpredicatable!

Lenny was also unusual being the only known storm of hurricane strength at that time of year to continually travel east. <BR>I recall tracking it and hearing daily how it was supposed to turn to the north and then northwest. so much for weather forecasters...
