Hurricane Aftermath...

We are going to Jamaica the first week of November and as far as I know most of the hotels are up and running. I checked the Superclubs website and it seems positive there as well. Does anyone have first hand info or experience with how the island is doing? I have been to Jamaica before after hurricanes and the resorts are usually repaired very quickly due to the tourism being the islands biggest money maker. Any info is appreciated. Really looking forward to the trip and hope all is well - ye mon!

We were in Ocho Rios from September 18 - 26. We took a car up from the airport to Ocho Rios. There were a number of trees either totally uprooted or with large limbs cut off. A few of the resorts had some roof damage and a few broken windows. Negril seemed to have taken it harder, but we did not go down there.

We will be at Breezes in Runaway Bay. I was told that they had some grounds damage which should be easy enough to fix (plants, flowers, etc.), but I heard no structural damage to the property. Did anyone hear differently? Debbie: what hotel were you at in Ocho Rios and was it o.k.? You mentioned seeing some roof and window damage to some places. I used to stay in Ocho a lot when I was younger with my family. It's a very nice part of the island. I just like the island period! Thanks all!

Just returned two days ago, we were in Negril and east of Ocho Rios.

Negril had some visible damage, trees, buildings, beach erosion in the usual spots. But from Lucea on east it was hard to tell there had been a storm.

Things grow back VERY fast there, I wouldn't think twice about Runaway Bay in November, I wouldn't think twice about it next week.
