How to get to Cat Island
Does anyone know how to get to Cat Island in Bahamas? I looked up airport code and get CAT, but then when I use that code on various airline sites as well as the usual travel sites it is not even recognized.

The airport code to use for Cat Island is TBI (The Bight), which is the "largest" of the airports on the island and is right in the middle of the island. (There are also landing strips at Arthur's Town and Hawk's Nest). If you plug that into Expedia, you'll see some options.
The easiest way to fly to Cat Island is via Continental/Gulfstream from Ft. Lauderdale. Because Continental codeshares with several carriers, you can usually fly from your home airport with your bags checked all the way through. We did this trip last year via Delta/Continental, and have talked to people doing USAirways/Continental.
As Scubagirl noted, Lynx also flies from Ft. Lauderdale.
Small carriers fly to Cat Island via Nassau as well. There is, of course, Bahamasair, which will show up on an Expedia search. I've also flown Cat Island Air from Nassau, but the schedule forced me to overnight in Nassau both southbound and northbound.
Both times, we stayed at Fernandez Bay Village -- and I'm already plotting my return. If you're interested, I have posted trip reports of both here: www.homestead.com/islandtime/MainPage1.html.
