Honeymoon in Bahamas
I am getting married this Decemeber and looking for our honeymoon destinations. I am from India and so far what I have read about a vacation in Bahamas , I am in love with it.
BUt I have few concerns as well - Firstly , Is it worth going all the way to bahamas from India , because just our to n fro flight tickets will cost us $3400($1700 per person). Secondly , will a 7 day trip to Bahamas get a bit monotonous. We both love beaches, but going that far off spending so much , is it really worth ?
If the answers to both the above queatiosnis Yes, can you also help me with what all should we do there ?
Please help me guys ..

Is it worth it? Yes, especially the Out Islands, which are stunning! (Harbour Island is gorgeous and would make a terrific honeymoon)
BUT something is worth something to you can be different to someone else.
AND December can get a little chilly in Bahamas, unless you go in the beginning of the month.
You're so much closer to Maldives, which are the best islands in the world for honeymoon!

Have you looked at the Seychelles or Mauritius - they are much near (in the Indian Ocean) to you, and should be less expensive to reach.
While the Bahamas are a very nice destination I'd have to think long and hard about coming all the way from India for just a week. As blamona said, they can be cool in December. Keep in mind that you my find you can't fly directly into the Bahamas and you'd have to make a connection in Miami, perhaps even staying overnight. You'll also most likely land on one of the bigger islands like Nassau, Grand Bahamas which are nice but the real beauty in the chain are the less populated Out-Islands which will require additional flights.
Personally, with only 7 days and a starting point in India I'd go someplace closer.

I agree with the above posters. The Bahamas is only a two hour flight for me and I wouldn't go there in December. It can be a bit too cool that time of year to enjoy the beach.
There are many gorgeous beaches closer to India.

Hey All,
Thanks for your replies.what you all said is exactly my worry!
I checked for Seychelles, but apparently it rains there in December and thus can be a big spoiler
for mauritius, I spoke to a couple who recently went there..they loved the place, but what they told me us that you wont feel that you are not in India..the cab driver, everyone everyone speaks in Hindi..we both are not keen on going to the regular asian places - Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore n all.. Europe cannot be done in Dec as it gets cold. So dnt have much of optiins available..i am soooo confused :'(

Have you looked into Maldives? Also if you are really keen on coming to the Caribbean then I would focus on islands south of Puerto Rico (Anguilla would probably be my top choice for a honeymoon - spectacular beaches and very good restaurants).
