Hewanorra Airport to Jalouise Hilton??
My husband and I are going to St. Lucia in a couple of weeks. Any recommendations on traveling to and from Hewanorra Airport to Hilton? Taxi? Approx. cost? Do I need to arrange transportation before we go? Thanks!

Hewannora is the closest airport to the Jalousie. If you were coming in to Vigie airport (up north, by Castries) then I'd recommend the helicopter which is a short ride but costs bucks.

I don't believe there's a need to arrange a taxi in advance, and it's my understanding that the trip from the airport to the Jalousie is ~$25 USD (with tip) 1 way. 1st, see if your travel agent made arrangements with Hilton for airport transfers, OR if Hilton has their own shuttle via the 800 Customer Service number.

Hope that helps, and have a GREAT time in St. Lucia (we're going back next yr)!

Jalousie isn't far from Hewanorra. No need to arrange a cab in advance. If you feel like/can afford taking a helicopter from Vigie, you can do it, but I'd just rent a car. It's less than an hour away and it's a very pretty drive. Besides, you're probably going to want a car to get out during your vacation and see the island anyway.

Just to clarify: the cost of a taxi from Hewanorra to Jalousie is US$55. There is no shuttle.

And it takes an hour! It's a slow ride due to the road conditions. It's okay, you won't get sick but it takes an hour.

I do not recommend that you rent a car from the airport. Rent a car when you get to the Hilton from Cool Breezes.

We are planning a trip in January and our travel agent checked with the Hilton and we were told that they now offer a private shuttle from airport to hotel, with no stops at other hotels along the way (apparently this contributed to the long ride in the past). They assured us the trip was no more than 45 minutes. We have decided to go this route (as opposed to helicopter which you can book privately) as it would be a great way to see something of the scenery and island life. If it is too uncomfortable we will helicopter back.

Have a great trip and do let us know how it went!

Shirley
