Help me decide on these three!

I've narrowed down my choices to these three places for a week's vacation in August:

The Crane in Barbados
Coral Sands in Harbour Island, Bahamas
Sibonne Beach Club in Turks and Caicos.

We're looking for a reasonably priced getaway at a small place with a gorgeous beach. All three fit the bill -- but I'm having trouble deciding. Also, which place would be the breeziest? I've been to other islands during the summer months, and while some are nice and breezy, others are muggy and buggy. I'm worrid about the Turks and Caicos in particular -- do they have a large mosquito or no seeum population?

Thanks for any help you can offer!

Hi Teresa,

I've only been to the Turks and Caicos once, so I can't speak for year round, but when we went (early May) there were hardly any mosquitos. However, I've read trip reports where they were bad in some places. I suspect like so many things, its the luck of the draw.

I think Provo has a fairly constant breeze, a lot like Aruba does. At least it did for the entire week were there. In some cases it was a bit too breezy.

We walked by Sibonne several times on our beach walks and it looks like a nice cozy resort. I haven't heard anything bad about it.

Good luck on your trip.

Ken

You know townclose, sometimes "zzzzzzzzzzzzz" is exactly what people are looking for.

What is it with you and Grand Caymans? You've even ressurected 2 month old posts just so you can recommend it. If your only suggestion to every question is to go to Grand Caymans it sort of decreases the value of the contribution.

It reminds me of the saying. "When the only tool you know how to use is a hammer, every problem looks like a nail."

I don't want to discourage contributions, but when the only suggestion you make is to go to these villas you know about in Grand Caymans, I start wondering.

Have you been to other islands? I get the impression you've been to Provo. You didn't find any redeeming value in any of them?

Oh well, I don't mean to be negative, just that the last 10 messages I've read have you recommending the same thing to everyone. (Shrug)

I won't say another word about it... Glad you found a destination that you enjoy so much.

We were on Provo two week ago. There was a constant breeze, which was lovely. However, some members of our party had a problem with mosquitos. Not at every location, and not every evening. Thankfully, not any no seeums, which bother me more than mosquitos. I don't think this would stop anyone in our group from returning during the summer, the island was gorgeous and we had a great time.

Hello,

I've been to T&C and Bahama's - Barbados is on my short list

We were in T&C last August for 10 days and we had a wonderful breeze the entire time. Regarding mosquitos/no seeums. We were always proactive and spayed our legs with an Off type product at sunset - we only had one evening that we were nibbled on during
dinner. Wasn't much of a problem for us at all - I would imagine it is the luck of the draw on any given island at any given time depending on the winds and all? I thought Sibbone seemed like a very charming place to stay. Their onsight restaurant is excellent ... that's a great perk.

Thanks for everyone's input. It was a close decision, but I've decided on Sibonne, in the Turks and Caicos. The price is incredible, it looks great on the website, and Grace Bay Beach just looks heavenly. I'll save Barbados for next year! Thanks for helping me decide!

Teresa--We stayed at Sibonne when it was Le Deck and it is very nice. Best place to stay is the one bedroom apartment which has a kitchen. My next choice would be the premier beachfront suites which are below the apartment. Bay Bistro restaurant is very good and the bartender Junior is a great guy. Delivers drinks on his head which is quite a talent. Good source on info on Provo is www.whenwherehow.com.

For Barbados when you decide to go look at Coral Sands. www.corlasandsresort.com. Very nice studio suites with kitchens and not expensive. Close to St Lawrence Gap. Beach is about a mile long and not touristy. Good info on Barbados on www.insandoutsofbarbados.com
