Help me decide betweenGuavaberry and.....

My travel friend and I,both past 50,are planning a week on Virgin Gorda, late January. She has stayed at Guavaberry, and says it is simple, clean and adequate. The rates are around $300 a night, which is just what we want to spend.Do any of you have other suggestions. We love reading on a quiet beach;peace and beauty.

The beach down the driveway is Spring Bay. Absolutely gorgeous! The Baths w/o the crowds.

I found the prices at Nail bay Resort are reasonable compared to most of the island. They also offer a variety of accomodations. Mango Bay might also fall into your price range. I checked out Guavaberry, and although the price is good, it was a bit too simple for my tastes. I decided to go with Nail Bay for 09.

Another vote for Nail Bay. We really enjoyed the beach and snorkeling there - as well as the restaurant.

It is a small island so you can easily visit Spring Bay and the Baths (near Guavaberry) -- but, I would prefer staying in Nail Bay. Mahoe is another consideration but possibly out of your price range during the winter months.

You'll love Virgin Gorda.

I say absolutely Guavaberry! Spring Bay was my favorite beach for reading and snorkeling on Virgin Gorda. Guavaberry's location is, in my opinion, much better for dining out, getting into town, seeing the sights, than Nail Bay's. Nail Bay does have some lovely villas and lovely beaches, but when we stayed at Mahoe Bay last year, the road between Mahoe and Nail was still unfinished, and Nail Bay seemed so remote that we were happy not to be staying there. If, however, we had wanted remoteness, privacy, and not wanting to try a different restaurant for every lunch and dinner, Nail Bay probably would have suited us just fine.

We've stayed at Nail Bay, the views are wonderful but the road is steep and rough--particularly if you have any interest in going out at night. Guavaberry also has some deluxe villas offered through their website. See Casaluna--$2,200 a week--looks nice and 2 min. walk to Spring Bay.
