HELP! Clueless about Puerto Rico

I am looking into going to Puerto Rico in May and have a couple questions.

Could anyone tell me what the weather is like at the beginning and middle of May? Also, what part of Puerto Rico is the best to visit...we are looking for beautiful beaches, cozy hotel/B and B, and since are from the city and in our mid 20's, a place that is accessible to nightlife.

Any suggestions would be MUCH appreciated!

Stephanie

The weather is fine it will be hot and the ocean water temperature in the high 70's or low 80's. Maybe a brief shower daily. You will find nightlife and good beach in either Isla Verde or Condado. Night life active in Old San Juan but no beach and the smaller hotels don't have pools. I would check out the Isla Verde section.
For a listing of hotels go to www.travelandsports.com

Thank you. One more question...is Isla Verde near San Juan? Also, I am assuming that Old San Juan and San Juan are relatively close? Could you tell me a little bit about the differences of each? Do you suggest staying in the Isla Verde area?

Both are in San Juan. Isla Verde is a 15 minute or so taxi drive from OSJ. Can also do it by local bus. OSJ is a cultural center, a few hotels and lots of restaurants, night life and retail shops Most tourists either stay in Isla Verde or the Condado but almost everyone who visits the island will check out OSJ. There are no beaches within walking distance and so far as I know only two hotels have pools - Wyndham Old San Juan and El Convento. Isla Verde hosts four major hotels and many smaller budget hotels most of which are on the beach or a short walk from the beach. Plenty of restaurants to choose from including almost every known fast food franchise. The one thing that Isla Verde has that is important when vacationing in the Caribbean is the beach. If looking for culture and nightlife OSJ fits the bill.If looking for sun and nightlife Isla Verde is the answer. There are two other tourist areas in San Juan - Condado and Ocean Park. Going east to west you have Isla Verde, Ocean Park, Condado and OSJ. You use the word "cozy". If by cozy you mean small check out the places in Ocean Park. None are on the beach but most are a very short walk from the beach. You will find one or two listed at the website listed in the other reply.

Puerto Rico is a nice place to visit. The weather is always beautiful except for a few showers every so often. Make sure you take a day and go to the rain forrest. You will probaly need to rent a car. The north side of the island had good snorkeling. There is not a whole lot in old San Juan. There are a few shops where the ships dock. I wouldn't spend more than a few hours there. The Bacardi tour is fun. It will take about 2 hours total. There is also an old military fort there if you are interested in sight seeing.
