Dan-
Since you seem to be so enthralled with Orange Hill, it seems I really should take a stroll over there. So glad to hear from someone who liked their vacation. I have seen so many people bashing places on these sites. Thankfully, those who responded to me have been so nice and extremely helpful. Thanks once again for all your time.
Debbie, you can always rent a car on a daily basis. We did, just to get out & explore. Just avoid trying to park in downtown Nassau like everyone said.

Dan, about Orange Hill: do they have a website? If so, silly me can't find it.
<BR

We stayed at Compass when it first opened and it was delightful. The pool was not heated then and that was a problem. The restaurant, though good, was filled with what I can only describe as euro-carib drug-trafficing kind of people. It was fun though. We had a treehouse room that was wonderful. Not much to do on that side of the island but very nice overall.

Hi,

Funny story about when my husband and I ate dinner at the Graycliff a few summers ago. While we vacationed in Nassau, we both basically sprayed ourselves down after showering with Deep Woods Off. It was a great defense against the little bugs (no-seem-um's?). When we came downstairs from our room at the Graycliff for dinner, the handsome, savvy maitre-d' took my hand and gallantly kissed the back of it......needless to say, I was mortified that after taking a whiff of my Eau de Deep Woods, he was secretly wondering..."What in the world kind of perfume is that woman wearing!!!" My husband and I still laugh about it to this day. On the up-side...now whenever I smell Deep Woods off, it conjures up great memories about our vacation in Nassau.

Enjoy the Graycliff and DEFINITELY go for the chocolate souffle!

Hey John:
The question asked refers to Compass Point NOT needle point!! As a repeat customer we have not seen the crowd you reference. Maybe that's what you were hoping for!

Hi Smiley--

The website for Orange Hill has moved recently. It's now under www.bahamasnet.com. Choose New Providence, then Orange Hill and you can see the property, prices, rooms and a list of amenities.

Best regards, Dan

My wife and I are trying to plan a 4 day trip in May to the Caribbean and want a place we can get to quickly. (Direct Flights, etc.) I've never thought of going to New Providence because we don't like over-development and crowds but Compass Point looks like a great place. Does it have windsurfing?

Tom-

I don't believe there is windsurfing at Compass Point, but there is at other locations on New Providence. By the way, we had the exact same thoughts about not wanting to go to that area, short travel time, no change of planes, etc... Originally looked into a lot of smaller Islands, but were wasting almost a whole day getting there. Then happened upon Compass Point. Have talked to a lot of people (other than on this forum) and found out 2 friends have been there and loved it too. Am really looking forward to it.

Tom:
You will ENJOY Compass Point. You raise a great question about windsurfing as they have an ideal location for this activity. I am going to send them an email asking them to consider this.
They do have 2 kayaks available for use on an hourly basis. Also there is decent snorkeling with reefs about 100 yds. off their small beach.
Enjoy your stay/Rich
