Grand Cayman - Just returned

I have received lots of good info from this forum, so I thought I would give some info on our trip. We just returned from our 3rd trip, and spent several days on 7MB and a week on the east end (condo's). Enjoyed: horseback riding with Nikki, golf at Safehaven, sunset cruise with the Reef Resort (wonderful), stingray trip with Captain Dexter (disappointed he no longer serves rum punch or fruit punch), lots of snorkeling (east end & cemetary reef the best), scuba diving w/Ocean Frontiers, Tree House restaurant- ask for table on the water, the "fire eater" show, driving around the island. Would skip: turtle farm - unless you have kids, "hell", Georgetown - if cruise ships are in. Perfect weather - 80's and sunny every day, windy for 2 days on 7MB and 2 days on the east end. There was a beach by the Marriott! Quiet empty beaches most everywhere.

We are going to GC for the 1st time this April and I've been trying to decide whether to do stingray city with Dexter or Marvin. Was the whole trip with Dexter disappointing or just the fact that he no longer served punch? Where did you see the "fire-eater"?

Thanks for the update. We leave for GC in less than 2 weeks and can't wait.

The Dexter trip was fine, just no punch. I would recommend him over Marvin's. Dexter takes about 16-18 people. We saw the "fire eater" next door at the Morritt's on the east end. We stayed at the Reef Resort. He was also at the Marriott one night when our kids walked over along the beach. "Barefoot Man" is also great at the Reef Resort, you need reservations.

Dear Annoxx,

Can I ask you to confirm the beach at the Marriott! I don't mean to keep this subject going on these forums as I think that it is one of the most mention items. But I am staying at the marriott in June and would like to know if on fact they have managed to sort out the beach restore I have heard about. It would be great if you could let me know. As I agree with you this Cayman forum has been invaluable for great info.

Maybe Tom Cayman can confirm it?? You always seem to be a helpful source of info on any forum I have read.

Thanking you in advance!!!

Paul

Enjoyed reading your report. We would like to stay at a condo on 7MB. Can you tell me where you stayed and how you booked it?
Thanks

We stayed at a 2BR condo at London House on 7MB (wonderful beach) and also at Comfort Suites next to the Mariott on 7MB. We booked the 7MB properties through "caymanvacations.com", and The Reef condo on the East End directly with The Reef.

Thanks for the suggestions. What price range would I be looking at? How long was your stay?

sunvalley -- We were in Grand Cayman for 10 days. (We love it!) The last two times we went for 10 days, splitting the time between 7MB for a few days and then the east side for a week. The 2 BR condo's at the London House are about $400/night with taxes. The Comfort Suites is less expensive, but of course it is a completely different place/experience than the London House or The Reef resort. The Reef resort does have some specials on its web site, you can check it out at: http://www.thereef.com.ky
