Getting to Anguilla

If we fly into St. Martin, how easy is it to get to Anguilla. We have tickets to St Martin, but I have read negative things about that island lately so I am considering going to Anguilla instead. I have read that there is a short boat trip over to Anguilla. Does anyone know how short it is, cost, reservation necessary, time?

Thanks.

Jen,

The ferry to Anguilla leaves from Marigot, on the French side of St. Martin and takes about 30-45 minutes to get to Blowing Point Harbor in Anguilla. I'm not sure how much it costs, but there's also additional departure taxes (not sure if they apply both ways). You'd have to take a taxi from the airport in St. Martin to Marigot and then a taxi in Anguilla to where you're staying or the nearest rental car place. You may want to look into the price of a rt flight from St. Martin.....

Anguilla is simply beautiful, with miles and miles of white sand beaches and friendly people. Not much to do but swim, sun, sleep and eat. Definitely rent a car so you can beach-hop around the island. If you want to e-mail me directly I can recommend restaurants, etc. I can also recommend a beautiful house to rent which has a view of the French side of St Martin near Grand Case and the Meridien L'Habitation.

My husband and I visited Anguilla less than a month ago. We flew into St. Martin and took a ferry from Marigot.I think it costs $10.00 per person one way for the ferry, with a $2.00 departure fee on both ends. Although it was a bit of a hassle, I don't regret arriving this way, and it is probably a lot cheaper than flying.

We did not go back to St. Martin for a day trip, but Marigot looked really nice. I know that there is so much bad press about St. Martin, but there must be some good stuff too. Maybe you could split your trip between the French side and Anguilla?

Good Luck!

Are you sure about the ferry ride from St. Martin to Anguilla taking 30-45 mins? Someone told me that it is only 10-15 minutes!

Last year we took a boat that was in walking distance from the airport in St. Martin in stead of having to take a cab to the other side of the island and then the ferry from Marigot. This boat we took is run by the same outfit, however; it believe it had cost $25 per person but was only 15min.to Anguilla. If you email them with your flight information you will be met and assisted with your luggage.

Years ago (many) we took a small plane from St. Martin to Anguilla. It was probably LIAT but we booked it through our main carrier from the U.S. The plane was a 5-seater, the flight was about 5 minutes long, and we literally flew over a rainbow. Unforgettable.

WinAir and Tyden have a 6 minute flight to Anguilla. The ferry takes about 20 minutes but the sea can be rough. My advice is to fly into San Juan and then American Eagle it to Wallblake (Anguilla's airport). There is no comparision between St. Maarten and Anguilla...NONE

The ferry from St. maarten to Anguilla leaves from the harbor in Marigot on a regular basis. The trip is about 25 minutes and the cost is $10.00 one way. There also is a small departure tax which you pay before leaving..I think it is about $2.00.
Many people who stay on St. Maarten go over to Anguilla for the day on the ferry
If you arrive at the airport in St. Maarten, you could take a taxi to Marigot and pick up the ferry there. But also check out this web site because this ferry company picks you up at the airport

I would not fly over since the cost is more

Anguilla is very quiet, very flat, with beautiful beaches. It is a very relaxing place to be-
St. Maarten is prettier with hills and also beautiful beaches but is more busy. There is more to do in St.Maarten, casinos, excellent restaurants, and nightlife
It depends on what you want
A lot of the negative press about St.Maarten has been greatly exaggerated
enjoy! whatever you decide!
