Getting cheap airfare to the Bahamas

I am planning a trip to the Bahamas with some friends. We don't want to stay at the usually "package hotel" places, and have actually found a nice bed and breakfast in Nassau to stay at.

What we are looking for is cheap airfares from New Orleans. Can we buy airfare only from Apple Vacations? Any suggestions for when to get the best airfares and from what websites?

Call a travel agent. Let them to the leg work. Thats what they do and in my experience the more time they have to search the best deal, they always do! Have fun, nassau is beautiful.

I think you should go to the travel agent and see what kind of deals they have for or keep looking for different deals that they have for you online everyday.

Blanche; Plane prices are high. You could fly Delta for about $360 Rt in late January/February. Their usually lower in the summer months, but are currently remaining at the same price. I do reef surveys in the Bahamas and always check on the cheapest air flights to Nassau and out islands. Here's a best kept secret. Even though you're probably not a scuba diver, dive shops always sponsor dive trips for their members and to attract new ones. Check the New Orleans yellow pages and call the dive shops; I bet some are going to Nassau between now and this coming spring and summer. They usually have cheap plane flights, as well as accomodations, for much less. if you don't scuba, don't fret, the price of the hotel is even cheaper for non-divers. Many dive stores will allow you to come along, because they benefit with more numbers booked on their packaged & pre-planned flights and/or lodging, by reduced rates. You wouldn't have pay for the hotel, only the reduced airfare, if you chose to stay at another accomodation. Robert

Blanche; Another suggestion. Wait til after the year ends. United is going under and other airlines are also planning on filing Chapter 11 bankruptcies. There is planned to be low cost fares in early 2003; even Delta is planning to lower fares. I heard this on the nightly news. I guess you might have to bit the bullet and wait and see what happens.
