General: Best Island for June-July
There's a good chance that I'll be getting laid off this month. I'll be getting a decent package, and I'd like to spend a romantic long weekend with my hubby to de-stress before looking for another job.
We're recently marrieds, and we were hoping for the following:
-mid-range in price
-few kids
-gambling
-reliable weather
-nice beach
-clean, and upscalish rooms
-no sightseeing required
-we like to drink and get lazy!
-3-4 hour flight from NYC
Any suggestions?

If you can increase you flight time just a little, I'd recommend the Bucuti Beach Hotel on Aruba. It's across the street from one casino and a short ride away from others. It's a smaller, boutique hotel on a lovely beach. The island is known for its reliable sunshine, nice beaches, etc. Check out a recent trip report here by Kristen on aruba...

NY girl
based on your criteria, I would choose Aruba.
Aruba offers lots of casino's, very reliable weather, very nice beaches and is clean, upscale.
check out the Hyatt with it's own casino or Radisson, more laid back would be the Bucuti resort. ST.Martin would be another choice but Aruba has better beaches & a more relaxed atmosphere.

I would agree with the Aruba choice. I too would recommend The Hyatt. It's on a great beach, has it's own Casino and is a lovely sight. There are plenty of restaurants on sight, so really no need to leave the resort if you don't want to. They have a great beach bar too. You would have a very relaxed time.
