Food options Provo

We are planning our second visit to T&C, last yr we stayed at West Bay and loved it. Nice location, helpful staff, quiet, lovely beach. We are 6 adults, we love to eat. We enjoyed Da Conch Shack as well as Coco Bistro, amomng others but went to Da Shack twice. I umderstand one can purchase fresh lobsters off the boats at Southdock, near Sapodilla Bay. Anyone ever try? Helpful hints??Does it need to be cleaned or is it similar to New England lobster re prep?? Easy to grill?
Anyone ever try Tiki Hut or Baci near Turtle Cove? How about Smokeys on da beach.
Thanks for you guidance.

Iguana has been closed for over 1 year, try Mango Reef-fantastic! Rememebr Lobster season ends 3/31..can not buy any or see any on menu until 8/1...not sure when you are going.
Iga sells lobster, not sure about Southdock or cooking it

Another vote for Tiki Hut. The food and prices were great and if you are "dessert people", this is the place for you. It's also in a very pleasant setting.

Two other casual places we like are:
Danny Bouys(Irish Pub) for fish n' chips, also liked the shrimp, pasta dish.

Calico Jacks(but I understand someone else has taken it over) We sit upstairs on the outside terrace and the food was always very good.

Now both of these places don't have the "tropical, garden setting", but the prices reflect that. We always try to eat "gorgeous, gourmet" for a few nights, and then casual for one night to offset costs.

Cleaning tip for live spiny lobster -- break off one of the spiny antennae, insert into the hole, where they release, uhm - waste -- and push all the way in. if you twist the antannae and pull it out, it cleans the tail (kinda like de-veining shrimp).

Everyone speaks of some processing plant for cheap lobster (sounds kinda far but worth it.....) but it would be super cool to buy them directly from a fisherman.

Thanks all. And, Fishee, thanks for the tip re "cleaning". I read on chowhound that fresh lobsters are available in the afternoon from the docks at Southdock, near Sapodilla Bay. Anyone ever try??
I will update after our trip.

On lobster, best bet is to buy from IGA. Buying direct in Five Cays (not south dock) can be unpredictable. But ask one of the local restaurant managers while you are there and they can give you alive update on how the availability is.

Smokey's on the Beach is closed but he's got a new place near Turtle Cove where the casino used to be. If you want great local/Jamaican try Hole in the Wall downtown, or Froggie's in Blue Hills (way past Da Conch Shack). Closer to home in Grace Bay some god places are: Opus (across from Golf Course - dinner only), Hemingway's (in The Sands (b,l,d and great outdoor deck), and the new restaurant, Pelican Bay, at Royal West Indies (Mango Reef, also good, is now at The Alexandra). Calico Jack's is closed I think but Jimmy's downstairs has a good burger.

And yes, Tiki Hit is still a Provo Classic!
