??Flying Out Sunday or Saturday from the East Coast

How many are in the same boat as we are.. We are outside of Boston and due to fly from here to the D.R. Sunday morning? Will you wait at the airport if you can get there or stay home or at the hotel until the planes can get out.. We are scheduled for a 9:00 a.m. flight..6:00 a.m. sign in...the high of the storm.

We’re in the same boat – flying out of Newark at 7 am. I think we will wait at the airport – hopefully because it’s an early flight, if they can clear the runway we can take off without a long delay. Generally delays accumulate for later flights – but 7 am is the high of the storm here, so who knows?

Any chance you can get your airline to change flights? Maybe get a late flight tonight into Miami or San Juan, then tomorrow to DOM?

With the 8-12" plus fcst, you might not get where you want to go tomorrow.

I'd be on the phone with my airline this am looking into options.

We are flying out by charter and no way we can change our flight... but I have e-mails into the company and will call...they are talking about blizzard conditions on the coast...and low visibility.. Many moons ago we flew out with them constantly de-icing the plane... I was too innocent about those things years ago.. Check in is 6:30.. .don't even think I'll leave the hotel..lol

I'll be keeping my fingers crossed for you guys that we just get some rain and a small amount of wind (not likely but good thoughts anyway!)

advice:
If you are already at the airport, use phones for the toll free numbers, sometimes they can help you better than at the airport!
Good luck, and have a nice vacation!

PS, is it a dircet flight?
If you transfer in Miami for example, maybe they would let you do that leg tonight? Of course, you would have to spend the night. If direct, you may have to go out monday.

I'm sitting here in Phila. listening to the news and they said the airport expects many cancellations tomorrow morning. It is supposed to snow here heavily tonight and not end until around noon tomorrow.

ParrotMom,

Sory to hear of your situation. Hope it all works out.

Side question..did you take out trip insurance or consider it? I'm imagining that this is the type of situation that insurance would be for. Is that correct? I have never purchased trip insurance, but as I am beginning to learn more on these boards and as my travel becomes more estensive I will be considering insurance.

I buy trip insurance whenever the timing and the possibility of losing a day or more is at risk. It's not that expensive and it certainly provides some peace of mind.
