first trip without baby

we want to plan our first trip without baby. We are looking for a 3-4 night destination, high end, where cost is of limited importance. Possibly all inclusive, not dead set on that. A resort that has lots of actiivities, or access to lots of activities, and also a town/community that has some fun yet not outrageous nightlife. Caribbean or Mexico.. will be coming from texas

It really depends on what you are looking for. Please post more specific needs/wants. This is a very helpful board. I can recommend Aruba, Guadeloupe, St. Martin and St. Kitts/Nevis. St. Kitts has casinos and lots to see and do. The people are soooo friendly and the Marriott, although big, seems small as you do your own thing! I have done the AI thing in the Bahamas, and I feel that it really limits you to the resort that you choose. I feel that it is great to try different restaurants..I say this and we only eat light lunch and dinner....so it varies with each couple. Nevis is our favorite...so beautiful and the food/people are great..Not sure if I have helped/confused.....let me know if you have ?????

Dow, If you want a short getaway, look to see where you can fly nonstop from your airport. That would be the first thing. Otherwise, you can spend half of your trip in airports.
I would pick my destination based on the choices of short flights.

I agree with girlonthego! Years ago there were direct flights from Houston to the Caymans. I would also look at what carriers flight nonstop to Mexico from whatever city you are closest to. Your Sunday travel section may be a good resource - look at the ads. Narrow down your desinations, then look at resorts. Have a great trip!

Since you are coming from Texas and are only away for 3-4 nights you don't want to be wasting too much time travelling. I suggest Mexico as it might be closer for you than some of the other Caribbean destinations. The Mayan Riviera (south of Cancun) area of Mexico has lots of activities. There are Mayan ruins to explore, cenotes to swim/snorkel in and water/eco parks. There is Playa del Carmen nearby that has some great, but not outrageous (like Cancun) nightlife. The beaches are beautiful with cool white sand and the water clear and turquoise. There are many new wonderful all inclusive resorts in this area and some even all adult resorts and many of these all inclusives included lots of activities if you want to do them. Enjoy your mini escape from reality for awhile. Have fun!
