First time to Bermuda?

Have never been to Bermuda before. Looking at going for our 20th wedding anniversary, first week of April. Looks like the weather will be ok this time of year. Other choice is the Big Island in Hawaii. Looking to hang out on the beach, lots of good snorkeling and sightseeing. Looks like the Pink Beach Club, Ariel Sands or Cambridge Beach Club is nice. Don't want a big resort - something smaller but still luxury. Any advice anyone can give on Bermuda or Bermuda vs. Hawaii would be great!

Hi Robin,

Congratulations on your 20th Wedding Anniversary. Bermuda is a wonderful island which I love dearly, and it offers loads of sightseeing. It is beautiful in the spring with lots of lillies and other spring flowers blooming. But if you are lookung for a place to hangout on the beach and go snorkeling in early April, then Bermuda is definitely not the place. It will not be cold there then, but it will only have daytime highs in the low to mid 70s and the water temperture will be in the low 70s. That's not beach weather or suitable for snorkeling or swimming for most folks. From late May thru September, it's just a terrific place for everything you said that you wanted to do. All the cottage colonies that you mentioned are excellent places to stay there, also. But unless you are willing or able to postpone your trip for several weeks, I strongly recommend that you choose Hawaii, which is also an excellent spot for your celebration. It's a tropical paradise. Bermuda is a wonderful sub-tropical island.

Best wishes,
Ray

Cambridge is undergoing a renovation, big $. It may not be open by April. I'd choose Pink Beach. Lovely, lovely.

Bermuda would be my first choice for a honeymoon or anniversary. Ray's right on all points, inc. the temps & the water. Even so, some of our most romantic & dramatic trips have been to Bermuda in the off season.

Either is a great choice.

Robin, check out the Reefs on Bermuda. They have a website. We didn't stay there because we had the kids, but talk about romantic!!! Also, they host one of the best restaurants on the island. Happy Anniversary!

Ray - Thanks for the advice. I'm thinking we should postpone it until late May - who says we can't celebrate your anniversary a month later! Bermuda does indeed look beautiful, I spent hours on the web last night researching and looking at photos.

Think North Carolina weather, when considering Bermuda weather, April is quite risky. We stayed a Pompano Beach Clupart of the dine around program with Cambridge Beaches) and loved it
