Eleuthera...thank you!

An excellent time spent in Eleuthera for a weeks vacation having escaped from London and work. Cartwright's Cottages suppplied us with the best hospitality and more. The fresh bread and native pineapples made us extra happy, and so very tasty.
Swimming at the cottages, the beaches and friendly locals to share a rum with, what more could you need. Eleuthera is the place to relax. Sasha

Sasha,
Are you a real person or do you use this sight to advertise for Cartwright's Cottages? I am wondering why there have been a high occurance of people commenting on trips to Eleuthera lately.

I was wondering the same thing, Curious. Although I've noticed all different names, everybody posts upon their return, specifically mentioning Cartwright's. I have a feeling that they give their guests a list of sites, or that they transpose their guest book onto the Internet. Because often the text is thanking the owners directly.

Care to comment, Doug from Cartwright's? Do you give some kind of rebate to guests who post on the internet, or do you re-type their guest comments onto the different sites yourself? I can't imagine that many people being that willing to do such thorough postings. I've read these on bahamas-mon.com and eleu.net, as well as others...

Let's see: Gregory, Peter, Andrew, Anupam, Sasha in London, Erin, Jory and Brigit in New Mexico, Hazel, Rock in Lexington, KY, Robert and Pete in Michigan, Lutra Boy, Suzi in Kansas, Wanda, Wendy, Doug, Diane H., Ellen and Steffen in Germany have all posted on a variety of message boards (primarily the interknowledge.com/bahamas board). What do they ALL have in common? An IP address of 206.48.0.2(traced to, guess where, Batelnet in the Bahamas). What else do almost all of them have in common? They've all had absolutely marvelous vacations at Cartwright's Cottages on Eleuthera. May be a nice resort but I wouldn't trust the place based on the phony postings by people that obviously either don't exist or are the same person using different names and stories. Time to stop phonying up reports about Cartwright's.

Danny

I am glad others noticed the same thing! I was positive that they were false trip reports but just wanted to mention it in case anyone else hadn't noticed. Things like this only serve to disgrace an otherwise helpful and informative site.

I dont think you responded to the question actually. You explained something about a competitor, but not about all these postings coming from the same IP address. THAT is the problem, as I see it. These are NOT true reviews or comments, they are posted by someone other than the "true" vacationer. That type of "advertising" smacks me, the "consumer", as false, and therefore leads me to believe that I would rather avoid such an establishment. So, if you think you are helping this place, I beg to differ, you are in reality turning people off.

Using this forum to combat some other bad-mouthing you claim is happening is not the purpose of this forum. It certainly is not appropriate if you are posting "fake" reviews. If the info Danny provided is correct, then your way of handling this "other" party is as misleading as you say his statements are. Your issues/disputes with another business person arent relevant here and dont justify "fake" reviews.

Interestingly enough, maybe you should have just been honest about it up front, stated your problem and said you were posting some "comments" from your guestbook or something like that. But when you purposely mislead the public, well, now who looks foolish?

Again, you never did address the issue of where these reviews come from, you just responded with "justification" it seems. I guess that alone answers the question.

Doug from Cartwright's has been advertising these cottages for as long as I can remember. I would agree that this guy's responses are nothing but sketchy - he claimed at one time to have nothing to do with the business, but it's very obvious that he works for the owners. I've got to say, regardless of what people say about the owners, you've just got to assume that they're a bit shady as well to send this sales guy out to misrepresent and delude so patently.

Along with the others, it strikes me as funny that so many have recently visited. I'm pretty sure that this place is tiny and can probably only service a couple of groups at a time. But who knows? There's so little about the place online that you can't tell. Most of what you find are postings by Doug and his alleged guests. And, most of what they say is pretty similar. Perhaps they give them a suggested outline from which to draft their commentary?

Actually, Doug is right here, and I am always answering emails about Eleuthera and of course Cartwrights Cottages. There are plenty of sites with details and info on them if you care to learn more about them. So feel free, anytime. Doug

Danny, I don't see how you can determine the IP address of any respondent to this site, without being actual recipient of the e-mail. Explain please?

Doug may be here, but still not addressing the issues raised earlier. Just respond to the "parts" of posts you want to? Not those that directly ask you to explain the posts coming from one address.........
directly on the board......
I'm not surprised.

Why answering questions "of course Cartwright cottages"?
Do you own this establishment or not?
Do you work for them?
Why dont you just spell it out so the "board" can know once and for all your position? Why does everyone "think" you own this place? Could it be that you do? Or act/speak as if you do?
Please answer the question as to your involvement with Cartwrights?

Janine,
The IP addresses are provided on the other Bahamas message boards where these same "trip reports" are posted. Not possible for someone to be in Kansas, or Michigan, or London, or Germany, or Tennessee, etc., etc. and have a Batelnet IP address, as all these supposed people do. I could care less about Cartwright cottages but do care about the Bahamas and have been visiting there for 21 years, primarily GBI, but don't like phony postings leading new visitors astray about the islands. I still have seen no explanation from Doug about how all these people managed to use a Bahamas IP to post from widely scattered states in the U.S. and other countries in Europe. Doubt we will either. He continues to waltz around it and blame everyone else without answering THAT question.

Danny

I am a little tired of you Doug. You have been asked to respond to certain questions and wont. Your response is always the same...."other" people are badmouthing you, email you directly, etc.
You say that someone can email you directly. Why should we have to do that? You are posting here on a PUBLIC forum. Why, when questioned, do you get so defensive and then suggest that those posing the questions are small minded jealous people or whatever you think they are. I am a Canadian resident, requesting you clarify your position with Cartwrights. I have no "other" business interest, other than wanting to know why you continue to promote one property. Why is that so difficult for you to do? If you cant do that then I suggest you take your "advertising" elsewhere. You have a problem with being upfront and honest? You have a problem with people questioning you? Then just answer the question. And dont respond telling me to email you. You have made public statements here, so make this answer public too. I'm not doubting you are helpful etc. I am doubting that you are not involved with a property you blatantly promote here. And if that is the case, then you are "misleading" people. And THAT is the crux of this whole thread, I believe.
