No offense to anyone who knew and loved the place, but we thought it was a pit.
We had heard so much about it, and went in. We turned around and left about about five or ten minutes.
Blaring rock music, spoiled Trustafarians and zero ambience.
I hope someone has come in and changed it totally because its a great location.

I saw on another post that it has been taken over by something else. The one on St. John is conveniently located in the middle of Cruz Bay but it had no views and much of what Diana said was accurate. You would do much better at Rhumblines (sp?) next door which has a much nicer environment and very good to excellent food. Incidentally, it's where poor Kenny celebrated his rehearsal dinner with Renee. By the way, if you must have Duffy's Love Shack, the one in Red Hook on St. Thomas, located in the parking lot across from the ferries to St. John was always the cooler place IMO. Sort of nonchalant, "we're-just-hangin'-out-in-the-parking-lot-cuz-we-can" chic.

Hi Tux,
I think you are talking about Rumbalaya. It is much nicer than Duffy's and has a wonderful atmosphere.
We had several great meals there, and we really enjoyed it. I heard it was sold/for sale though, so not sure about that.
Oh Kenny/Renee... What a STRANGE situation that was!

Duffy's on STJ is now called Lizard's Landing and on our recent trip, we didn't go in so I can not comment on it. Also, Rumbalaya has had a name change and is now called High Tide. I don't believe it was sold but just a name change. I could be wrong though!

Mae,
You are right!
I looked into going back to St John and staying at the Westin. But it was a little more than we wanted to spend right now.
I am looking forward to GC because of the snorkeling and restaurants. Also I would never get through my "to go" list if I keep going back to STJ.

Christie: I know what you mean! I'm looking forward to getting the house built and returning on the investment, then I get back to my "got-to-go-to" list in the Caribbean. Until then, I'd just feel too guilty. I'll just have to enjoy yours and other folks' trips vicariously until then. At least I'll have the advantage of your reports in making a decision.
