Dom Rep vs. PlayaCar

ok..sounds like both DR and PC offer some great all-inclusives. which would you suggest for us? we want:

great beach
good ocean (non-pool) swimming
great food (a-la-carte)
great drinks/top shelf
shortest total travel time from NY
minimal children
snorkeling or diving close by
minimal off-resort activities
spa would be nice

what do you think? which would we prefer? and which resort?

Lots of Europeans bring their children on vacation to the DR. It is a popular vacation site for them.

You have to research both places - some AI's have spas, some do not. Most resorts in both places offer massages on the beach anyway,;once you get past the fact you are right tere onteh beach, you get over it quickly!!! The massages are great. Most AI's have limited a la acrte dining - you can usually only eat at the a la cartes two or three times during aweek's stay - the buffets are amazingly quite similar.

Barcelo resorts in Punta Cana offers a wide variety of dining options. Snorkeling is better in Playacar....

The Royal Hideaway Resort & Spa in PLaya Del Carmen ( Mexico ) would be the perfect place to stay for ALL those things that you're looking for.

I would have to agree about Playacar and Royal Hideaway Resort - It's beautiful there worth the price. If you want a cheap vacation go DM. If you want more than what you pay for in service and great food, and beautiful beach go Royal Hideaway!

I also just returned from the RH a few weeks ago. I would also recommend this resort. It was so beautiful and the food was delicious. Plus the service there made you feel very important. Good luck in whatever you decide! (RH!!!)

Everyone is correct Royal Hideaway would be perfect for you. The beach is endless. Very safe. Awesome spa. They pamper you to no end. The town of Playa Del Carmen also has some great restaurants if you get tired of the all inclusive. Check out Buenos Aires, a great argentinian steak house and Karens right on the main street!
