<One who has never cruised would have a lot of experience with sea-sickness, eh?>

You don't have to go on a cruiseship to know you get seasick. Obviously you don't suffer from motion sickness, Steelersfan.
I've been on plenty of boats and it happens every time. I also get motion sickness in busses, trains, and small planes. As a kid I got extremely carsick but thankfully I got over that. I'm not sure why you insist finding this somehow incredulous.

Just TRYING to return the thread to the OPs topic.
krb, are there any cost contraints in your planning?
You will find a lot more 'included' at an AI resort compared to a cruise ship, which has much less 'included' compared to the way they were priced some years ago.
With children, if they consume soda beverages, you will pay for each, including an auto added 15% gratuity. Often there are 'soda cards' that can save you if you consume enough during the week to make that purchase worth your while.
Also wine packages can be a savings if you, spouse, and parents enjoy wine with dinner each night. Lots of decisions to make, even after you are onboard.

Are you 'beach people'? If so, then strengthen my recommendation for Punta Cana, if not, then maybe you should make another choice.
PC beaches are Wonderful! and where many visiting PC spend most of their time.
Most AI resorts will have a children's program, you may want to have the TA find out which resorts have the best ones, what hours, what kinds of activities, etc.
Often there is also a separate children's pool, like a wading pool, nice for the little ones to cool off.
