Dining or Nightlife near Horny Toad?

I'm assuming you mean Horny Toad on St. Maarten. A dear friend of mine lives nearly across the street and I've stayed in the area often (at her house, however, not Horny Toad).
There are several options of nightlife, dining and a small grocery store (7-Alive) nearby. They are all in walking distance to me, but not sure what walkng distance is to you. Bottom line is that you can get all you are looking for within several blocks.
Horny Toad in St. Maarten is a couple blocks off Airport Blvd, which is a main thoroughfare with much to offer in the Simpson Bay area. Not the greatest street for walking (especially at night with traffic and no sidewalk), but it's doable during the day.
So, in MHO, you can make do there w/o a car, but if you plan to see much else of the island a car would definitely be a plus.
