Decision Finally Made!

Wow!!
What a tough decision. So many Islands, each with their own little characteristics.

After doing extensive reading and online research, my wife and I have decided on this:

June 18th to June 25th- We will be staying in St. Thomas at the Wyndham Sugar Bay Beach Club. It was a toss up between this and the Ritz-Carlton. We like the inclusive features.
We also like to Party, and plan on partying like wild animals at St. Thomas

After a week of partying, it will be time to relax We will be on Peter Island from June 25th- July2nd, with a beach front room on Peter Island.

I hope everything turns out good for us, and everything meets or exceeds our expectations.

Do any of you know the best clubs at St. Thomas around our Hotel? If so, please let us know. I am sure they won't be too hard to find, but looking for experiences

thanks!
chris

Hi Chris!

Good choices! Next time tho, you might try the All Inclusive package at the Marriott. Ritz Quality (nothing against the Wyndham, but you will notice the difference) at an All Inclusive price. They are at www.marriott.vi

Second, you are in great shape for partying! Head over to Red Hook. Grab some great food at XO, then cross the parking lot to the outdoor party at Duffy's Love Shack. Then cross the street to either the Big Kahuna or Caribbean Saloon. You can't miss with all those choices clustered together!

When you're bored with those, grab a cab to The Old Mill (best for weekends) or to the Waterfront where you will find Americanized food and partying at The Greenhouse.

Enjoy our little corner of paradise! We look forward to sharing our delightful island with you!

Isn't it great when the decision is finally made? Think that you will get a wonderful contrast between the all-inclusive of Sugar Bay and Peter Island. I know I would NEVER choose all-inclusive on STT but I definately WOULD go beachfront at Peter Island (IMO the only way to do it ... the rooms are lovely!) Head over to Red Hook as suggested ... make sure Benji takes you on the "bus" tour of PI early on so you can get a feel of the lay of the land and be sure to have your lunch delivered to you while you sun and swim at White Bay! Enjoy!!!

I've been to the Virgin Islands twice this year and will be going back this summer. The Old Mill is a must for partying. Locals love this place as well as tourists!! I can also highly recommend the restaurant Room With A View at Bluebeards Castle. Excellent Food and view

Thank you all for the replies!

Shortly after posting the message, we cancelled our reservation at Wyndham, and changed it to the Marriott Morning Star Resort.

The lady at the reservations center at the Wyndham was very rude when I called to cancel less than 24 hours after making the reservation. I was literally arguing with her about why I wished to cancel. She admitted she had never been there, and yet was arguing with me about why I am making a mistake in cancelling our reservation. Maybe she was just having a bad day, I don't know. I told her that I was very surprised she would argue with me about my decision.....and after rasing my voice to her, I think she got the message This is just one person at a reservation center somewhere, and I am sure (at least I hope) that the staff at the property are very friendly and helpful.

Web- Thanks for the party tips! Looking forward to it! I printed the places you mentioned for later reference

Bette: Yes, Peter Island is expensive, and I am sure it will be worth it. Thanks for the "scubamom" lead.....

Karen and Robert: Thanks also for the reply! Your advice is very appreciated!

15 days to go!!

Chris

We'll be in St. Thomas 6/17-6/24. Sunday afternoons at the Sapphire Beach Resort is a Jammin' Beach Party. (At least it was in 1991. The first time we were there.)

Some recent changes at Sapphire Sunday brunch on the beach ... heard it is much more "mellow" than it has been in the past. For dining, try Craig and Sally's or Alexander's in FrenchTown, Herve in Town, Cafe Wahoo in Red Hook, Blue Moon Cafe at Secret Harbour and Raffles or Dottie's at Compass Point. Everyone raves about Romano's in Smith Bay ... I find it overpriced and so-so. Cuzzins in Town or Eunice's in Smith Bay are good for "local" cusine. Carribean Saloon has some mightly big steaks and be sure to take the ferry to St. John for a day! (Stop at the Mongoose Deli and pack sandwiches for the beach).

Hey - I don't want to burst your vacation bubble, but my husband and I just returned from St. T's last night and for all we care - they can keep it. It's not safe, the beaches were not nice at all, Maegan's bay gets too much hype - I've seen better elsewhere in the Carribean. Most of all, it's not a safe island. Don't walk anywhere at night, least of all through Charlotte Amalie, even the cab drivers tell you not to stray far from the hotel. If your'e dining in town, make sure the cab picks you up right in front. I'm not kidding folks, just thought you should know. St. John is much safer and has a better beach -ferry over and don't Trunk Bay.
