December tropical wedding
Hello, We are looking for a tropical wedding location, love hiking, biking, water sports. Want to get there in 3-4 hrs from the midwest and not spend our entire retirement. Any suggestions or experiences! All appreciated.

See luxurylink.com for some superb auctions of weeks at top-notch properties. Plan 1-15 Dec timeframe since high season/Christmas season premium rates start 15th. LADERA on St.Lucia, MAROMA in Yucatan, HORNED DORSET PRIMAVERRA in PR, GOLDENEYE in Jamaica might fit the bill without breaking the bank.

I'd suggest taking to a local travel agent on wedding/honeymoon packages, there are many destinations that would fit the bill, but a local travel agent would have more info on package deals from your location and suggestions of islands.
Also if you are inviting friends, you will need to book this very quickly, as December is the start of the high season, so the rates and availability will start to get tight very quickly.
If you have more than 20 people coming you can also get a group discount from the airline, call their group desk directly and you can even negotiate at least one free ticket. Once you have gotten a good price, you can have the travel agent issue tickets to everyone.
Hope this helps, have a great time.

If you like hiking, biking and watersports, you will most likely like st.john. I would think fly into St.Thomas have a couple of days and wedding at a resort there and then ferry over to st. john for a private honeymoon. StJohn is known for beauty and the fact that is mostly national forest land. (?)if that is what you call it. Plus it is an american island so you are getting married in the US. I would talk to a planner at one of the resorts and see what they offer in terms of packages.
