Hi Virginia,
Yes I agree that everyone, statewide, has had enough ;-)...but we do like to complain about our weather.
Christie...I always smile when someone comments about how beautiful Maine is. I always want to ask "which day were you here" !
This has been an enjoyable thread...thanks Christie !

your welcome Marion..I thought that it would be nice to see where everyone who chats on this board is from.
NC gets too hot during the Summer. For someone wanting warmer weather..I think somewhere around DC or Maryland would be a good choice.Unless, they want the humidity and heat that we have here.
You either get the harsh summers or winters..thats why vacationing is soo good in the Caribbean..oh the tradewinds are so nice!

My dad and stepmom used to live in Blowing Rock and it was the first house that they have owned that did not need AC.The mountains of NC are nice and cooler during Summer.I have heard of Pilot mountain...I think that it is near Asheboro??I am probably wrong..I remember passing it as a child on the way to West Virginia but cannot remember where?

Traveler..I lived in Charlottesville and Stuarts Draft VA for about 2 years between the two about 10 years ago.It is a beautiful place up there.
I lived there with an ex boyfriend who was a pizza franchisee so that is why I now live back in NC (home to me).
We lived on Lake Monticello in Palmyra when we worked in Charlottesville..it was such a nice place to live.I found out by my uncle that I am related to Thomas Jefferson.Thought that it was pretty neat to find that out.

Isn't Pilot Mountain the one that looks like a great big breast sticking out of the landscape? I lived in Winston-Salem for two years and used to make the drive up there from time to time. I was born in Wisconsin, raised in Mississippi, spent 2 years in NC, and then moved to Massachusetts about 4 years ago. I hated MS summers and I'm growing to loathe MA winters. My two years in NC were pretty close to ideal and I always said that eventually I'd like to move back to the NC/VA area.

I guess none of you are Andy Griffith fans. Pilot Mountain, visible from Winston-Salem, is a bit closer to Mt. Airy, where Andy was born. When he and Barney left Mayberry to take out "fast girls" they went to Mount Pilot. It is right off US 52N and visible on the road to West Virginia.
