Cruz Bay - small inns?

Hi,

We are planning a trip to St.John in November. To help the budget, we would like to spend a few nights in town at one of the small motels.

I found listings for Inn at Tamarind, Raintree Inn and Cruz Inn.

Anyone familiar with any of these? We are looking for clean and quiet (and of course, cheap).

Thanks,

Janet

Been to Raintree and Tamarind. Both are clean but spartan. Neither has phone or TV in ther room. Raintree didnt have AC when I was there (95) but I think has since changed. Also I believe the Raintree is a non smoking hotel if that is of interest to you. Tamarind has continental breakfast in the courtyard (included) everyday. I used to live on STX and would go to STJ for weekend getaways. I dont remember either hotel to be noisy.

I wouldn't recommend any villas at Cruz Bay. Very noisey - dogs, roosters, and lots of mosquitos.

Janet,
We stayed at Raintree Inn in 93 but I thought I heard that it is gone now. It was between the Catholic church and Fish Trap Restaurant - it may be a shopping area now. Jamie

We stayed at Cruz Views. A condo just up the hill from Cruz Bay. One of the few places that allowed stays of less than one week that were in our budget (not caneel/westin). You should check it out.
