coco point lodge/barbuda

I want to go to Barbuda this summer. We are deciding between coco point lodge and the beach house. On trip advisor, coco point has better ratings. However, on coco point's website, the rooms look really outdated whereas the beach house looks beautiful and modern.

Any thoughts? The price is basically the same.

I can't speak from experience but we know people who stay at Coco Point every year for two weeks. My impression from what they've said and from looking at the websites of both hotels is that Coco Point is the old traditional Caribbean much like some of the Plantation Inns on other islands. More like a house party of like-minded guests.

The Beach House looks like the new kid on the block, beautiful simple modern furnishings in breathtaking rooms with all the bells and whistles that go along with it.

All depends on your personal style and preferences. Luxury is in the eye of the beholder.

Coco Point doesn't seem to have summer rates listed. They may close for the low season, if this is when you were thinking of going.

We stayed at The Beach House believe in Feb 2004. It was very nice. They were going to build about 20 Cottages/villas on the property. Don't know if they are finished yet. Not a lot of activity. There is a TV room for TV adicts and DVD's are available for guests use. Not a lot of tourist infrastructure on Barbuda. I believe I posted a trip report on this forum. If you do a HowardC search you will probably find it. If not I will repost.
