Choosing Between Bermuda and St. Maarten/ St. Martin
We are in the process of choosing an island destination for our much awaited honeymoon. We are planning on going for 4th of July weekend for 3 nights/4 days. However, we are facing a big dilemma choosing between Bermuda (I know it's not in the Caribbean but also a beautiful island) and St. Martin. We are a young couple and are looking for a relaxing place but still with stuff to do. Some activities would be- beautiful beaches to lounge on, great bars/food/cuisine, lively nightlife and some water related activities such as snorkeling and maybe scuba diving (which we have done before).
It will be an added bonus if the place has some great architecture/history to explore. Any help choosing between these two islands would be much appreciated. Thank you in advance!

Bermuda would be my choice: perfect time of the year (except it might already be booked up for 4th July) gorgeous swimming & snorkelling beaches, several scuba dive sites of interest, lots of history/culture plus things to do/see, lots of restaurants. But it is expensive. The only thing I'm not sure of is lively nightlife but am sure it must exist. For a honeymoon Bermuda is perfect.

St. Martin hands down. I think the vibe there will be more in keeping with what you want than you would find on Bermuda.
Never forget Bermuda is where they invented Bermuda shorts and socks up to your knees. https://www.google.ca/search?q=bermu...w=1280&bih=687
Here is a good article on St. Martin. http://jamaica-gleaner.com/gleaner/2.../out/out1.html

Those are two opposite islands.
We really did not like St Martin. Our resort was nice enough, but the water was fished out by spear fishermen, with whom we snorkeled side-by-side. Not fun.
And leaving the resort was not good. The sulphur smell near 'town' was overwhelming. And the town was full of mangy dogs, and nothing special at all to do.
Renting a car there was a nightmare, as was trying to drive. We spent a second week on a 'resort' we had to drive to, with the scariest, dirt-rutted, hilly roads. Our Avis rental car had been in a wreck, and didn't feel safe at all.
Restaurant servers were slow and uninterested. Maybe because the tip is automatically included in your bill. Our kids were little, and some crackers or bread at the table would have been appreciated, but No.
