Debbie, I was in Grand Cayman last year for a week. Karen's claim that there are huge high rise resorts is false. GC has so many places where you go right from your room to beach, unlike St. John where most accomodations are not directly on the beach.

Sandy, where did you hear that there is nothing over 3 stories high on GC??? I stayed in an oceanfront room at the Westin on the 5th floor. It looked like all the big hotels like Hyatt,Mariott and Holiday Inn were about 5 floors high.

The building codes on Grand Cayman allow 5 stories for hotels but only 3 for condos. Most of the condos are nestled on the beach quite nicely. There is a move to allow condos to go to 5 stories but no decision on that yet.

When I first started going to Grand Cayman, nothing was allowed to be built over 3 stories high.

Just for the record, that post that is posted by me, [email protected], is not mine. Don't know about Cayman's since I've never been and I have been discouraged by others. I am sure it is wonderful and some of those little out islands sound absolutely delightful!

That's the problem when you become a "regular". People can call you up on past claims! Why not just come clean when you were wrong??? Sandy was wrong, but she fessed up so at least we can respect her.

The Cayman Islands are not gay friendly, but there are some gay friendly beaches in the USVI like Megans Bay Beach and Solomon Beach, so I would choose the USVI's.
Just for the record, an imposter is posting by taking older posts and revising them or changing them and using sentences from other posts. But, we know imitation is a form of flattery! Wish there were some way of distinguishing them ... but original posts by do NOT contain errors nor misinformation planted to cause a flame.
The other point being that both Salomon and Jumbie on St. John, which are traditionally c/o beaches, are being patrolled and tickets given for au natural bathing. Little Magen's is still used as a c/o beach on St. Thomas.
