Cayman budget accommodation ideas?

We plan to visit the Cayman Islands for two weeks starting at the beginning of June. I have looked for a condo/room/villa and can find nothing to fit our budget of around $100 a day. We are a couple who like simple, clean accommodation with a fridge and coffee maker and an ocean view. Your ideas would be welcome.

You will not find anything for that price on the sea. Sorry! You can find a place for about 175 US a night about a block away.

Try looking on the WWW.caymanislands.ky site. That is the Department of Tourism site.

The only ones I know of for less than 100 US a night is Eldemire Guest house which is about 10 minute walk to a nice cove for snorkeling and the beach and then there is Adams Guest House that would be a lon walk to the same cove and that is the closest beach to them.

These 2 places are about a mile south of GT proper. Good luck! Personally I like Indies Suites ( about a block from 7 mile beach) and Comfort Suites just a 2 minute walk down a path to the beach.

Look into The Turtle Nest Inn (www.turtlenestinn.com). My husband and I stayed there last year and enjoyed it very much. However, it is about 20-30 minutes from Georgetown and 7MB so you absolutely will need a car. The inn is on its own small beach which is OK but not the smooth silky sand like 7MB, and there is a bit of turtle grass on the water's edge. They do have a nice pool and there is excellent snorkeling at the reef just off the shore by the inn which we especially enjoyed. Our room was very nice and immaculate ... one bedroom with full kitchen and living room. The owners of the inn were very hospitable. The rates are better that you would find along 7MB .... depending on the view from your room will range from about $110-170/night. I don't think you will find much in GC for $100/night.

You are looking at one of the most expensive islands in the caribbean. $100 a night for oceanfront is simply unrealistic for GC. In the off season, you might be able to do something in the $150-170 range, but you'll have to do some digging to find oceanfront for that price.

Look in the Comfort Suites, next to the Marriot. very nice there and just a hair over $100.

Sue,
You might want to check out the Seaview Hotel. I believe you can get a room there starting at around $90. It's mainly a place for divers, but the rooms are clean and simple, right on the water. There's no beach to speak of, but you can always walk a short distance to find a nice beach. In your price range that's about the only place I could think of. Check it out on caymanvacations.com

check out www.caymanvillas.com
and look for "beach bay". they have a studio, ocean front for 110.00 a night.
check out the pictures of the place, no crowds and secluded. You would need to rent a car so you could get around. Full kitchen and a great balcony, excellent snorkeling too!! It is just past Pedros Castle and close to Turtles nest inn. It's at least worth a look.
