Caribbean vacation with teens

Planning a summer vacation with teens 16 & 19. We all love the beach, but also desire a little something else.. hike, bike, raft...at least one adventure! Weve been to Hawaii and know we can't top that. Want something more economical this time. Condo or Hilton points. What would you recommend or avoid.

An extremely nice yet economical destination in the caribbean is the Punta Cana area of the Dominican Republic. Beautiful white sand beaches (26 continuous miles) and turquoise blue water...stunning. A great resort for families is the SuperClubs Breezes resort. They have loads of teen activities....a rock climbing wall, flying circus trapeze with trampoline, ice skating rink (artificial surface), beach volleyball, bocce ball, tennis, etc., etc. Non-motoroized watersports are included in the all inclusive price....catamarans, windsurfing, ocean kayaks, plus a free banana boat ride, boogie boards, etc. It's extremley easy for everyone....the kids can eat and drink all day long without bothering you. Imagine not having to pull out your wallet every couple of hours!!! The resorts offer tons of day trips plus you can do quad adventures, diving, horseback riding, snorkeling, etc. Go to this website for resort reviews:
www.debbiesdominicantravel.com

I like the suggestion of Punta Cana. Another thought may be PDC area in Mexico. They have many AI to choose from which is ideal with teenagers. They are family oriented. The activities may include biking, hiking, excursions to be taken, even a ferry over to Cozmel, and snorkeling. Trips into Playa Del Carmen for some shopping.

Dear Amy,
You might consider St.Thomas VI depending where you are flying from. In the summer you could snorkel and then take the ferry over to St. Johns for the day for hiking adventure. We have 3 teenager boys and they love this vacation. Our family owns a condo there right on the beach and I rent it out very very reasonable in the summer. Email me if you want more information.
p.s. I am not trying to rent out our family condo I really know that our boys are the same age and have a great time. I can give you alot of ins and outs of fun things to do.
Lisa

Definitely recommend St. Thomas with the teens. Recommend the Marriott Frenchman's Reef, and for a villa on the eastern part of St. Thomas, Blazing Villas, on the property of the Renaissance Grande Resort.

Hope this helps.

If you like hiking you might try St. Kitts and hike in the rainforest. In Nevis you might like the Qualie Beach Club where they offer watersports. Read info and travelers comments on Where2Stay.com.
A reasonable property in St. Kitts is the Timothy Beach Resort. You can sail to Nevis for the day.
In St. John you can rent a 2 bedroom suite at Lavender Hill Estates on the island of St. John--walk to Cruz Bay for dining etc. Hike in the lush national park.

What about St. John vs. St. Thomas with teens that age? Is there enough there to keep them happy for a week?

St. John will be boring for teens. I recommend a day trip there while staying in St. Thomas.
