My family of 5 just returned for our 7 day vacation at OCW. We rented a car for 2 days and I would suggest you do the same. It is convenient and allows you to stock up on whatever provisions you may wish for your room without being ripped off at Ports of Call shops.

Depends on what you would like the car for: if you only want to hit the IGA grocery store, Ocean Club offers a shuttle three times per week which would be much cheaper than a car rental. They also have a dinner shuttle nightly which takes you to and from all island restaurants for around $6 pp. For other trips, cabs are very expensive so I would make my car rental decision based on what I planned to do.

actran - i agree with tg. you really should plan to go explore. grace bay beach alone is 12 miles. there's no way you can walk it. what shopping there is is pretty spread out. also there are some other very nice beaches on provo. and the restaurants are all over the place. HOWever i advise some sort of suv/jeep. the roads are bad, bad, bad. but it won't be your vehicle so you won't care that much about the rough ride. no safety issue just bouncy. well they do drive on the left. don't miss Bugaboo's conch shack for lunch. it is a unique experience. take a cooler w/your own drinks. i rented from scooter bob in port o call and they were really nice, but may not have the right jeep for your family.
