Cancun during summer vacation??
Affordability is always a factor traveling as a family.
I can get a decent deal for Cancun for July 2003.
Am I crazy to consider this destination for July?
I understand the rainy season begins in June. I would love to hear from anyone that's been to Cancun in June or July. What was your weather like? Were there plenty of mosquitoes? Was the humidity unbearable? Any comments would be appreciated. Thanks!

I was not in Cancun in August. Mosquitos were around. The water was wonderful. I enjoyed it more so than in the winter months. It shouldn't be a problem. It may shower for a few minutes a day, but other than that we had little rain. Humid, yes, but still had a great time. That was my experience. I would go.

I have been to Cancun the first week in June. The weather was perfect! I stayed for a week and it only rained one day for like an hour while I was out shopping and the rain was so light that I just kept walking and shopping. It was actually refreshing because it is hot down there. But that's the whole point, fun and sun, right? If you can get a great deal I say go and have a wonderful time! I think the weather will be perfect. Good Luck!

Went to Cancun in July 2000. It was so hot and the humitity was unbearable I couldn't beleive it. It is OK during the day if you are a beach person, but the nights nevered cooled off. But had a great time at the night clubs. Maybe it was just a bad few weeks but never again in July.

Have not been to Cancun, but have been to Cozumel several time and they are less than 100 miles apart.

I would not go in July. Remember, this IS the hurricane season, and although the height of the season is usually not until September, you can get more than just brief showers. You can get full blown thunderstorms. I have been in the Yucatan when it rained all day in the summer. This part of Mexico is in the Tropical Convergence Zone meaning it lies in a belt where lots of storm systems congregate during the hurricane season. So even if you don't have hurricanes, you are very likely to have more rain.

When it is sunny, it is incredibly hot. I live in Louisiana, so I am somewhat used to heat and humidity, but it is very hot and humid, even for me. I remember touring one of the major Mayan ruins at Tulum and it felt like an oven! That day, it was 105, with a heat index of 112. When I go to Cozumel, I spend just about all of my time in the water.

If you see a good deal, there is usually a reason for it...

I have been to Cancun 3 times, twice in July and once in March. It rained two times in July during the early morning hours for about 15 minutes. It was humid all 3 times, slightly more in July. We spend most of our time at the beach, so the humidity is not a problem. There was always a breeze at the beach. However, if you plan on shopping/sightseeing during the afternoon hours, it will probably be very hot and humid, but all malls are air conditioned. We had no problem with mosquitoes and my husband is a magnet for them. We love Cancun and prefer going in the summer, the rates and better and it is less crowded. Hope this helps.

Went to cancun in early july about 3 years ago and the weather was perfect! In fact, I am planning another trip next July. It rains in the early morning about 9 or 10 am for like an hour each day, and then it is beautiful after that. Never had a bad day in all 7 we were there. Each morning it rained and one evening it rained. THe hotel said rain season mostly means early morning showers. It was hot, but it is Mexico, it is always hot! I like it to be hot, that is what makes it vacation! Just spend days lying by pool and shopping, it cools off at night a little. I say do it, it is a great time for prices and you will have a blast!
