Burnt out on travel planning - please help me with a 5 day trip!

After considering way too many possible locations for our next short trip, I think we may try the Caribbean. But we've never been and I'm so burnt out on travel planning it's hard to know where to start!

Looking for:
#1 easy to get to from Philly
#2 beaches where I can snorkel
#3 places where we can go explore on our own, not stuck at a resort.

We're not all-inclusive types. We'll have our toddler with us which only means that we eat rather early, don't shop much, and need a place with 2 rooms (suite or condo). Otherwise he'll be fine playing in the sand, going along with us on drives or hikes.

Thank you for any help!

San Juan is an easy flight, and there are definitely areas where you can find some good snorkelling and do some exploring.

Easy flights out of PHL
St Martin before the end of April (as that is when much of the non-stop service to the carribean stops).
St Thomas (better yet take the ferry to St John)before the end of April (as that is when much of the non-stop service to the carribean stops).
San Juan (non-stop beyond April)
Bermuda (also non-stop beyone April)
St John would be the best of the 3 for Snorkeling/Hiking. You might consider renting a house/Apartment.

If you are planning on going after mid April, consider Bermuda.

Snorkle at Church Bay
Great island to explore
find a perfect rental at http://www.bermudaaccomodations.com or http://www.bermudarentals.com
Buy take out at Miles grocery and spend your time on the beach with your toddler.
Oh, buy a transportation pass when you go by baggage claim at the airport.
Have a ball.

You could also consider Isla Mujeres (a small island and short ferry off Cancun) They have nice beaches and plenty of small things to keep you and a little one busy. There are many condos you can rent within walking distance to the town. You can rent a golf cart for a day to explore the island. They have a few areas you can snorkel off the beach for a small fee or snorkel trips. They have a small turtle farm too. The water is calm on the North side making it great for small kids. Nautibeach Condos and Ixchel Beach condos are worth looking at as well as a few small hotels in town if that is what you want.
