Breezes Cable Beach Report- Stay Away!!!!!

I really don't know where to start. I haven't posted here in so long, due to 2 small babies & severe lack of time, but I cannot in good conscience let my experience be unknown.
I went for a 3 night stay with a group of 7 women for a "girls-only" weekend. We had 3 rooms among us.
I should begin by saying that this was my 3rd stay at Breezes. 1st time was when they first opened in 1996 & it was great! 2nd time was 4 years ago & it was still pretty good as far as value. This time, it was down-right disturbing. I cannot belive how much this resort has deteriorated in 4 short years. To start with, while the overall look of the place is still the same as when it first opened, it's in ok shape. However, when you get to the rooms, all the furniture is beat up, cracked, etc. There is plaster falling off the walls & ceilings, so your staring at gaping holes & wondering whats in them. The carpets are visibly stained. The sliding doors barely open & close and can be dangerous if you try. 2 out of our 3 rooms did not have functioning showers for the first 2 days, & by the 3rd day, all of our showers were broken. NEVER had a drop of hot water, & the water that did come out was sometimes brown. There was essentially a problem with everything in our rooms, whether it was a lamp that didn't work, the phone wouldn't dial- you name it. It was like a joke! Aside form the regular amount of ants & lizards we saw in the rooms, upon leaving the resort, we learned that the mysterious 'bites' we had scattered around on our bodies were in fact bed bug bites, as they were found by another group of guests staying there as well. Bottom line, the guest rooms are a disaster.
As far as the rest of the resort goes, it's just plain shabby & stale. Same furniture, all beat up. Same decor, same activities. The drinks & the Poolside Grill were probably the best thing about the whole place. The food hasn't changed much, it's pretty average as far as buffets go, & we only got to go to one restaurant, Eden as the other one, Pastafari, was closed, in spite of it being a major holiday weekend & the resort was packed.
All that being said, I want to make it clear that I know Breezes is not a 5 star resort. While it is cheaper than most other all-inclusive resorts, I still expect decent rooms that provide the basics, like plumbing that works & clean amenities.
I should also note that the staff was still as friendly and accommodating as ever. But I will not ever return to that resort, or probably any other Superclubs property ever again.
Hope this helps. Please feel free to ask any questions.

Everyone we spoke to on the shuttle heading to the airport had the exact same experience we did.

You should also post this on TripAdvisor if you have not. Several of the Breezes have been getting really bad reviews on that site. I wonder if the owners of the Breezes are just milking them for what they can get?

Thanks Reisender, I will. My husband suggested that they are waiting for a big hurricane to strike before renovating. Oh well...

I was just in the Bahamas and thought I was told that stretch of beach, including Breezes, was getting "redeveloped" to a mammoth Vegas sort of nightmare. They probably have no desire to keep it up at this point.

You are correct. Cable Beach Resorts has taken on a huge redevelopment project,(www.bahamar.com), but it is not supposed to include Breezes.

If you look at the proposed changes.. breezes looks like it will be wiped out completely. They don't admit this, and say they will not be affected. But I don't see that happening in the "big Picture".

Breezes claims to be refurbishing all it's rooms and common areas, but I've yet to see any significant improvements.
