Boscobel Bankrupt?!
We have a complicated multigenerational family reunion BOOKED at Boscobel for December 2000 and just found out the wholesaler is suggesting we choose another property on account that Boscobel may not exist in December! They are recommending FDR but it sounds like the property is too small (2 acres?). I have read a lot of these postings and it looks like Half Moon or Beaches Negril or FDR or FDR-Pebbles. We will have children ages 0 to 7. Any suggestions? Has anyone else heard about this? Thanks!

We are planning to be at Boscobel Beach in August. We call SuperClubs and they told us that the property will be sold as of July 4 and that they had no further information until then. My travel agent said the same thing. I would really appreciate any further information anyone may have heard or any advice on whether they think Boscobel Beach will still exist in August.

Thanks Megan and JMC for your replies. As a follow up: the wholesaler would allow ONLY FDR and after a little pushing ("could you at least ASK your supervisor?") agreed to FDR-Pebbles so we took that. It's new so maybe it won't be too seedy! We'll see =)

Here is the response I got from SuperClubs about Boscobel Beach. Based on this I have cancelled my reservation and will be doing Club Med - Sandpiper instead.

Dear Mr. Cohen:
As of July 4th, 2000, SuperClubs will no longer be managing Boscobel Beach
Hotel.
International Lifestyles, the U.S. Representatives for SuperClubs is
continuing to take reservations, with Boscobel Beach honoring all of our
rates and reservations even though it will no longer be a SuperClubs.
We have been advised that the hotel will remain in operation and will honor
all commitments and reservations made by us on their behalf. We have also
been advised that all amenities and package inclusions will remain the same.
This is no guarantee since we will no longer be managing the resort. We are
however looking at another family resort that we could offer in the very
near future.
I hope this will assist with your questions and concerns.
Have a Super day.

We travel to JA about 3 or 4 times each year. Have stayed at Boscobel a few times. We have repeated to FDR WITHOUT exception since we discovered it. Hands down the best destination for anyone with kids. The new Pebbles is brand new, never stayed there, why tamper with perfection. FDR is NOT small. Go have a good time and enjoy the wonderful staff and facilities. EMAIL me if you need more. Tom
