Bomba's Full Moon Party
We are going to be on Tortola in April and catch Bomba's full moon party. Is it a must do? Please let me know.
Also, what hotels are near Bomba's and near great beaches? We are thinking about Long Bay, Sugar Mill or Sebastian's.

I'm just back from Long Bay. Bomba's is over the hill from Long Bay and near both Sugar Mill and Sebastians. The beach near SM and Sebas.. (Apple Bay) didn't look that great to me. Long Bay has a beautiful beach, but a bit rocky once you get in a few feet and rough water--be sure to bring good water shoes and you should be fine.

We didn't make it to Bomba's, but were told the full moon party was a must do for all ages.

Enjoy yourself.

Cane Garden Bay is not too far away. We were told it was a good beach, but it had too many boats and too many people around for my taste.

Hi Hannah
We spent 7 days at Long Bay last year and absolutely loved it. We hiked to Smuggler's for snorkeling, and also walked to Bomba's for the full moon party. It's pretty wild- lots of the sailboat people are there- we met some fun folks. The mushroom tea had no effect on me other than burn my tongue- it's HOT! The rum punch is strong, however. If you'd like my trip report, email me. It's on traveltalkonline (their BVI board) and you can do a search with "honeymoon". It was posted Jun 26th or 28.You can get lots of BVI info on this board. Have fun and get ready for paradise!

Bombas party is likened to a large Frat Party. Lots of islanders as well as tourists. The "shack" has live music. It is tiny and most everyone is out on the street (sometimes literally "OUT")
At midnight, Bomba passes out his "punch". The party goes until the wee hours.
It is worth doing once but I wouldn't return.

How right you are. I was in a frat once and getting drunk was fun. Then I got older. I stopped peeing on the sides of buildings and looking for bars where at least a few of the women customers would get smashed and dance topless for the boys.
I stopped by Bomba's once. I didn't know there were people that were still in the frat at 40.

So this will be a good place to try to recapture those supposedly wonderful memories alluded to by others, such as drinking ridiculously, urinating obnoxiously, berating boiserously and generally acting stupid and able to blame it all on those around us? COOL! I need a final fling into my youth before 50 hits. But, do I really have to wait till Midnight for the shroom tea?
And to Sarah, yeah--will be going in May and it should be a blast since the BVI Music Festival winds down that day as well. Don't know how you will spot us though...we'll just be another couple acting like everyone else

Most people show up in bathing suits, etc. Be SURE, be very SURE to wear sandals or other footwear that will prevent that typical bar injury, the broken beer bottle/shard through the uncovered footsie.
There's enough broken glass around to surprise you.
